It does not matter whether its championship level or world level.... 10:43 - Jun 28 with 114 viewsbaz_qpr

But you cannot get away with playing two centre halves without pace, defence plays deeper and either the midfield plays deeper and the strikers get isolated or the midfield does not and you concede all the space to other team, and this is even worse if they are playing 4-2-3-1 formation with 3 able to occupy this space.

In Englands case add to the mix Lump of Lard and Barry with an understudy in carrick, possibly the three slowest central midfielders in the country. And in reality the first half decent passing side with a bit of pace is going to tear you apart. Add to this the abberation of John Terry's professional suicide performance, Gerrards decsion not to play as part of the team and you have a recipe for a thrashing.

For me the lessons of yesterday are:

Whilst Cappello has certainly made mistakes, I don't blame him and I hope like all great professionals he learns from his mistakes and we benefit from that.

Yet another manager IMHO has succumbed to the picking the best players and trying to make a team, rather than picking a team and if necessary leaving out the best players.

At the higher levels of football you cannot get away with having no pace in defence or in the middle of the park.

Something has to be done about Premier League clubs pinching all the best kids and then not developing them fully by giving them a proper first team opportunity, will our World Cup winning 17 year olds be failed because they are not breaking into teams at the ages of 17-19 which they must do in order to kick on.

We must bring in a 6/5 rule in that at least five players in a starting line up must have come through the youth / clubs of the leagues country.

Competitive 11 a side games for kids should be banned until the age of 11, 7 a side games and playing with the small balls and a focus on skills and touch need to be concentrated on.

The Acadamy system needs to be reformed, with less emphasis on facilities and more on including all football league and premiership clubs in competition

There should be a maximum wage for all players under 21 and a ban on transfers for all under 18's
