I'm looking to buy one of those new-fangled turntable/speaker gadgets so that I can get back into all my old vinyl. I have a lovely old Akai stack system, but due to its size it's just not practical anymore. So, which one should I go for? Probably looking at £200 max and the primary selling point is decent sound quality.

Please don't get too technical with me - answers in a Janet and John stylee are welcome. I want to plug it in and pretend I'm still at Caister.

Did I ever mention that I was in Minder?

Get yourself down to your nearest Richer Sounds. They'll have a few options and will let you hear them

Cant beat a trusty old Dual 505 on the home turntable front.

You know that Akai stack system that you possess?
That's your Hadron Collider that is.

Project Essential 2 - £179

Buy it, whack your vinyl on it, sit back, close your eyes and then come back on here and thank me later.

Do not buy a turntable with built in speakers ever, unless it's too take to car boot sales and record fairs so you can listen before you buy.
