QPR match and player assessment anyone? 18:22 - Sep 26 with 2177 views | Greenbay | The positives from today's 1-1 draw v Middlesbrough Dieng. He looks so calm; Did really well on his debut. I don't feel so nervous when a cross comes into the box! He was never really tested but he punches and catches the ball well without any fuss. He can only progress the more matches he plays in front of the back four. It's his jersey now and it seems goodbye to Joe Lumley although I always wanted him to do well. Kakay. Improving game by game; so much energy. Really like him. Yes there are mistakes but when he gets the ball I feel something good is going to happen. A pleasure to watch. Dickie. Getting used to Championship football. Solid and a great addition to the defence. Barbet Ok but not always convinced. But has to get used to new boy Dickie on his right and Wallace - now replacing Manning for reasons we all know - on his left. Wallace Like all the players he does his best but if he faces a really quick winger then he's in trouble. Middlesbrough spotted that especially in the last 15 minutes and attacked strongly on the right although Wallace to be fair did well. However I really would like to see Hamaleinen given a run and then we would know. As Dieng made his first appearance maybe Warbs didn't want to have two players on debut in the same match? Captain Cameron Seems to be slowing down. I prefer Ball in that role. Would be happy to see Geoff prove me wrong. BOS So strong but has to work on his shooting but a great asset and a Premiership player in the making. Hope we keep him for the season which seems a real possibility? C'mon BOS just sign the contract! Then improve throughout the season and then sadly depart. It's good for you and good for the club cos we'll get a good fee. Chair Another improving player. Some delightful touches. But more central please. Difficult to take over Ebs role but he's going to get better and better. Amos Did some good work blocking, harrying opponents and a couple of nice touches. But needs to get his shooting boots on. If he can get one goal - with a bit of luck - his confidence will rise and maybe more goals to come. Need 7/8 goals from him this season. Thomas Again looks solid although he did tire before he was subbed. Dykes He could be a class act - a better Hugill? Really like him. He has all round skills but needs a lot more support. As for the subs - Carroll unlucky not to score when hitting the post and an asset especially with his distribution. Needs more minutes on the pitch as does Smyth - would love to see that pace of his. Overall it looks a reasonable team but it seemed too individual today. Playing time together will surely see improvement. After all Dykes, Dickie, and Carroll are all new boys this season along with Dieng's debut and Kakay has had only a handful of games. Negative You've guessed it - we all shake with worry when the opponents have set-pieces. Another goal conceded today from a corner. Of course it's difficult to assess after just 3 games but I'll take 10th place at the moment dropping to possibly 12th after this Sunday's games. Another half a dozen matches and then we'll know whether we have a top 10 side. Your thoughts?
QPR match and player assessment anyone? on 20:25 - Sep 26 with 2006 views | dixiedean | Agree with most of this . Dieng seemed confident and very positive in all he did . Chair is starting to concern me . Early days of course but too often he cuts back and plays a simple pass rather than attack the defender ( compare BOS who is the very opposite). This was especially true v Coventry. Dykes really needs some support, not to mention service.

Lots of plusses and if you have both Ball and Carroll you can bring on, that speaks to some good options in midfield. Finally beginning to see the point of Amos...he had three chances in the box in the 1st half... two blocked and one led to our goal. Dykes did look a little bit stranded up top at times. As for Chair...I thought we looked worse without him on the pitch when he was subbed and that helped contribute to Boro's best spell of the game. He looked pretty knackered when he came off and had also been heavily fouled in 1st minute. Agree that Dieng now needs run in the side and looked promising. He's really big and has huge hands. A season of BOS who was superb and Chair would be great. Wallace recovered well from losing his man at our first corner. Think he will get more than the 3 Clive gave him for Coventry game: 5, 6 even?

QPR match and player assessment anyone? on 10:02 - Sep 27 with 1402 views | daveB | I thought Amos did some very good work defensively closing down players and winning the ball back but when he was pushed further forward we lost our way a bit and Boro took control of the game. He really needs to put his foot through a shot though rather than try and place them. A draw was about right in the end but some positives to take from it. Bright was really good back to his pre lockdown form, Deing had a decent debut not sure if he is the long term answer in goal but a good start from him. Wallace was much better than the Coventry game but think we really miss Manning going forward. George Thomas looked very promising, a couple of lovely defence splitting passes which we didn't make enough of, Chair should have scored or least got a shot away with one of them
QPR match and player assessment anyone? on 11:49 - Sep 27 with 1297 views | derbyhoop | Lots of OK performances, but, apart from BOS, nothing outstanding. Defensively solid for the most part. Dykes tried hard with little support. We faded badly last 15 minutes - after the substitutions.
