McNulty looks to be aware of making the most of how well we create situations to score. As has been said, Dieseruvwe’s return will help. Actually thought Duku scored his hardest chance and with the one on the line it was a lack of awareness that cost him. As if he was waiting to nod it in and didn’t anticipate a challenge. Having said all that, only York and Boreham Wood are out-scoring us on goals per game. We score first, we win. That’s something the rest can’t match us on so far. |

With the pitch work now complete is there a chance the Solihull game could now be shown? Be good to get fans back spending money in the bar! |

We don’t usually sit back after scoring, but when we have to the players all look very comfortable in their game plan. EEL commented on it. The issue in some games is we don’t get a second - look at Duku’s missed chances yesterday and other situations which McNulty talked about in his own interview. . |

So at the halfway stage, albeit weeks later than when we should have arrived at 23 games, we have 55 points. Hoped and expected we’d reach 50 in pursuit of the 100 it’ll almost certainly require to win the league, so we are 5 points ahead of what was already a very ambitious par. The sheer weight of games is the only cloud amongst silver linings at present. Edit: TS was spot on with the major concern back at the start of October. [Post edited 17 Jan 19:50]

York have now drawn two out of their last four. Both draws as a result of late equalisers. One of their wins was an injury time winner. Whilst we continue to focus on our own business, we will benefit from mini-runs of “poorer” form over the Pennines. Would take a Carlisle win on Wednesday to continue that. [Post edited 17 Jan 19:32]

Carlisle fans going after their team and manager again. Savage all over the place in his post-match interview again. (there’s a good argument that he’s the worst person to have at the helm of a club looking for promotion) Rochdale fans, team and manager keeping their heads after the odd blip. |

Scunthorpe’s inability to hold onto leads late on has really cost them. They’re top of the 75th minute table. |

The only issue, as it had been since September, has been the uncertainty around getting games on and some games not going ahead/not finishing. It’s created a feeling of uncertainty off the pitch, and probably for the players too. That we couldn’t immediately look to respond after our last loss when even a game at Accrington was called off, it’s added to that problem. Before Hartlepool, we’d won five league games in a row (seven in all competitions). |

In some ways it feels a lot like we are starting all over again today. Two seasons in one and the second one will be a lot different to the first because of the sheer number of games. Since the start of December, we have played 3 league games in 47 days. In the next 46 days we play 13 times. |

They were never added on. As soon as the game was abandoned, the “live” league table reverted our total to what points we had before kick off. |

What’s “classic McNulty-ball?” We’ve not changed the way we play all season long. Sometimes we haven’t played as well, but with 17 wins from 22 games, not sure we can ask for much better. |

Of course. Though by signing Broome, we’d have a young keeper we know can be a no.1. If we then got a loanee in to challenge him, it would make sense. |

Bolton have signed a keeper from Fleetwood today, would hope we are looking at signing Broome in the summer as a permanent keeper. |

Now we’ve started to get people who don’t feature out on loan (Humbles), I’d expect that to continue with Tutonda and Hosannah who clearly aren’t really going to appear much. Can only think Waller is going back after his loan ends, but we may have the same issue again as Perry has signed for the same initial period of time. Bilongo is Galvin’s replacement and Duku being Amantchi’s, so we’re not actually any different in squad structure than we have been, but would return to that point that we should let others go. |

We’ve established that if he’s willing to come for hardly any money, something we’d have to publicise to ensure we don’t get criticised (which we rightly would. See Bury), that he’d be ok sitting on the bench in case EEL gets injured and that he can fit into a side that plays like we do, then it might be worth speaking to him. Or we could concentrate on players who we are presumably already watching to come in and add to the squad. |
 | Forum Reply | Craig Dawson! Why not??? at 12:43 13 Jan 2026
We could only play Dawson and EEL together if we played a back four. Neither can play the wide CB role effectively as it requires going forward to support attacks. If we did have an extra 10k a week in the budget, which would be a concern as we don’t want to be spending silly money, it could be better used elsewhere. Admittedly some of it on a central defender to cover EEL. If Dawson wants to come for a 5th/10th of that and sit in the bench, maybe. But then again there’s no-one at the club who is connected to him now either so. It sure where the link is. |

Yes. Does he fit the way we play at the back? Is he as mobile as EEL? How would the other players respond to their captain being left out immediately after he’s had a very good season? There’s no doubt Craig Dawson has been a better defender than any of the players we currently have in the squad. But that doesn’t mean he would be the best thing for our team now. |

So putting aside potential location, wages and other factors. it was never a serious idea in pure footballing terms. Is Chris O’Grady available to hold up the ball for the last ten minutes now and again? |
