We upgraded the floodlights to meet new regulations about 3 or 4 years ago. So I doubt they are below the standard needed. But they don't feel very bright I agree. Given that the Ogdens are lending the club another £1.5m (?) to rebuild the pitch, I am not sure we can ask for more at this time. |

Seems bizarre that people think like that. On the day, that ground will be ours and we will make it a home by being there in numbers. The club now need to find ways to make it easier for fans to get there. Somebody earlier in this thread didn't agree with me, but I think the club needs to arrange transport to the other ground from Spotland and the town centre at a nominal cost to the fans (i.e not for profit). Take the hassle and excuses away. We have hundreds of fans that travel from far and wide to games, it would be a shame if some people locally find an excuse not to do it. |

I am sure that the fans will understand. I would hope that the club would organise transport for travel to another ground on a not for profit basis. But lets see where the ground will be. I am sure the club has provisional commitments before they agreed a plan with the National League. As you say, the club debt doesn't need to grow in order to keep everyone happy |

We all groaned when he took McBride off. But fair play, the subs made a real difference. Not a great watch, but winning ugly is the next best option. Shame about the gate, but the uncertainty with the pitch doesn't help. |

It is wild out there. Lorries queueing at Milnrow on M62 due to winds on M62 at Rakewood. Queensway flooded both sides ... barely passable. It would be a shame if the pitch is okay but the area around the ground isn't. No idea where Aldershot are staying but they are not at the Norton Grange. |

And Bury, Owdum, Accy and FC United are all at home on the 15th - the day we are supposed to play Aldershot. So moving it won't be so easy |

Accrington would be a decent shout. They invested heavily in their pitch just before their Chairman threw his toys out of the pram. Given he has slashed the money he is putting in, they'd be glad of the extra revenue perhaps. We'd have to lay on buses to get our fans there in any volume. |

To be fair they shared the details in an article when they were trying to fix the pitch last season. There are drains and they are working. The problem related to the water getting down as far as the drains. The layer of sub soil between the top surface and the drains is not doing its job. I am sure it isn't clay - but imagine it was. So water is sitting above that layer and not draining away. The whole pitch needs to be dug up yet again down to about 3 foot and rebuilt from scratch - hence the £1.2m cost they quoted. They had hoped to get through to next summer before they invested in that - recognising that last year they were still debating a stadium move For now we need to go cap in hand and speak to our neighbours about ground sharing for a while. Self imploding this season would kill any chance of making this club sustainable in my lifetime. |

The TV company paid for an air balloon type cover once ahead of a televised game. Not sure it was the Spurs game as we had only re-laid the pitch a week beforehand. |

I do hope the game goes ahead. Already booked my travel and hotel - don't want to be out of pocket again. The club just needs to communicate what it is doing. They have identified a group of volunteers to help with the covers - surely they could tell us if they have been asked to pull the covers on over the past few days |

Indeed. There are no seats left now - just the Sandy Lane terrace. The club may decide to open Wilbutts stand. |

I notice that we have almost sold out of the free tickets for seating. The mainstand is sold out and there are about 150 tickets left in the Pearl Street. Hope that those that have reserved a free seat turn up on the night. Looking like another 3000+ gate. |

Who is they? The shareholders of RAFC will receive very detailed accounts for the last financial year in January. They were extremely comprehensive last year. |

Awe thats nice - one amateur club supporting another amateur club. Well done. |

Glad you are happy Rob Shaker. I remember when FC UNited were created as a breakaway club for disenfranchised Man Utd supporters. They were getting gates like yours initially. Now they average about 1200. Not bad for a Northern Premier side - but still hard to be sustainable. Will be interesting to see where your gates go if you have a few seasons without a promotion push. Yes we need to do better and have always struggled to get to c5,000 fans. The Board know that history is against them, but they also know that the fans we have are very loyal, very supportive and very engaged. Nobody will be pulling wool over our eyes. It will be good for North West Football for you to climb a few leagues. But don't take anything for granted, especially the support. Bragging about support is more akin to the way Bradford city behave - although at least they do have the supporters to back their claims up. Rochdale AFC - never been in adminstration and have always paid its creditors and suppliers in full for over 100 years. |

You make some very valid points there. But I don't think it has had its day. It just needs to reflect on why it exists, and how it can reconnect to the fanbase and it's members. A successful football club with happy fans generally has an active supporters club. Its not about just saving the club when things go wrong, its about ensuring that we feel like we have a stake in the club and that opinions are heard and ideas shared. The Trust has been wrestling within itself since it took on the fight to save the club. I am sure it was exhausting and bruising for the volunteers and those that helped them. I don't think the Trust Board has recovered, and now we are in a period of calm, it is time to reflect on their role and how they can reconnect. Because one day, a healthy and thriving Trust will need to represent the fans again, when things are going off course. There is no guarantee that the Ogdens will always have our back (there is no implied suggestion in that comment). The new forums you allude too are all very laudable, but they have been set up by the club management and the club will always drive their agenda. The Trust should always be independent. I suspect the reason for not communicating the member numbers is the poor level of renewals. In effect, the Trust is embarrassed and needs to come clean and seek fans support. I too have not renewed this year. I had every intention of doing so, but I thought the behaviour of the Trust towards those fans on here wanting an EGM was disgraceful. The way the 'Trust on the Board' role was communicated and designed was also disgraceful. The lack of communication to members after George's resignation was shocking. It has lost its way, but it can recover it. I really hope it does. Disbanding it now would be a sign of failure and signal a lack of unity amongst the fans. Apathy is a terrible state to be in - whether as a fan or a Trust. Elect a Board that the fans can resepct and get behind, be really clear about your purpose and your objectives, now and into the future, and engage, engage, and engage. [Post edited 20 Oct 11:34]

Hogan not put a foot wrong. We have been in control and could have more than 3. Fergusons cheating on 3 minutes has taken him from being loved to abused by the fans. The third goal could have been stopped by him but I think it went under him. Karma. Mani needs to score his hatrick and come off to avoid a second yellow |

Does anybody know who the Trust Chair is? I still don't recall seeing anything since Judd stepped down. |

I agree with that. We have 29 players....not many sides at this level have the playing squad depth we have. We have to want to win cup games too - if nothing else because it will bring fans through the gate. Playing most of our first 11 suggests we did intend to win it. There were a lot of new fans at the game on Saturday and they will have gone home disappointed. I was chatting to one of them - and he won't be coming back. He was expecting an exciting game given our league position. On a seperate note - did anybody think there were a lot of police at the game on Saturday. Including some that appeared to be from Cheshire Police. Maybe it was a training game. But I wasn't expecting any problems with York fans. Although do think it is about time the authorities started fining clubs for offensive chanting. We don't tolerate anything racist, sexist, homophobic and quite rightly so, but fans thinking that singing about paedo's at a football match is okay need to be called out. It has to be punished or it will continue. It's not funny. |
