I own up, was the one that instigated the Slack Jack comments.
That was based on Jack's mistakes in previous seasons.
But he's stuck at it & now he & THB looked like a decent Championship partnership.
I watched the QPR game on Sky & just loved them showing the teams in the tunnel before the game, Jack was talking to the little mascot lad as if it was his son.
I get it now, that's why he is club captain & been given a new contract.
It's not all about ability it's just as much about commitment & character & Jack certainly doesn't lack that.
So away with the SlackJack in future I'll refer to him as
" CrackerJack". |

I've been one of Slack Jack's biggest critics but credit where its due he's done a very steady job since he got back into the side.
I think the fact that Tonda has done away with the 3 ctr back system has helped us defensively, both Jack & THB look better lined up as just 2 ctr backs with 2 conventional full backs making up the back four..
What also helps is having a keeper that organises his defence. |

Not just because he scored two goals tonight but every time he plays he impresses so Matsuki should be a regular instead of Fellows.
He's got more to his game, he's physically stronger than Fellows, he tracks back & gives Bree more help than Fellows.
And as he proved tonight & in previous games he can score goals.
Come on Tonda stick with Matsuki. |

Does anyone remember Dennis Wise having a short spell as Caretaker Manager for us circa 2005.
I think he ended up Managing some foreign side.
As a player he was a classic " cheeky little chappy:: always in the oppositions face & loved a scrap.

It wasn't offside for Dykes.
The goal was disallowed because he controlled the ball with his arm before slotting it home ( but it was a clinical finish) |

There's so many terrible football presenters / commentators that it would be much easier to name the best one.
I just can't tolerate Carragher or Neville who both insist on talking absolute garbage instead of just commenting on the match.
Sp glad that I've got a mute button.
I'd choose Alan Smith as the best, he only speaks when he's got something constructive to say & he doesn't resort to shouting, he's easy on the ear. |

I find it strange strange that we have signed Jamie Jones until end of season.
I understand that that Macca has had surgery to a hand injury that will keep him out for a few weeks but why couldn't we have given our under 21 keeper a chance to join up with the first team squad.
Jamie Jones is 36 & only played a much lower levels so is probably not any better than our under 21 keeper.
We know it's only cover for Perezt & Long & will probably never be called on to play but I think it is demotivating for our young players who are trying to establish themselves at the club.

I agree Grumps.
I don't think we've seen the best of Edozie yet.
I'll be dissapointed if he doesn't turn out to be half decent.
He's been messed about, lots of different Coaches , out on loan & very little game time.
I'm not sure he'll ever get enough game time with us. |

Tonda's words were "not many of them can play 90 mins".
I appreciate that the likes of Stewart & Scienza's game time needs to be managed to protect them.
He should have said a couple of them
But it's a fact that the fitter you are the less likely you are to get muscle injuries. |

Tonda has made a very strange admittance that
"We don't have many players that can play f full 90 mins".
I find that very strange, pro footballers should all be able to play for 90 mins + the time added on.
There will be exceptions if players are carrying an injury or coming back after a spell out, but there is no excuse for players not being fit enough.
That would suggest that they are either not training hard enough or they are doing the wrong sort of training.
Plus they are playing at least once a week sometimes twice a week so that alone should get them fit enough.
But I think many of us have said for many months that our squad have not been fit enough, that's why we fall apart in 2nd half of games.

If Edozie is match fit then I think he should be in the squad.
He was integral to the team that got promoted so he's got plenty of Championship experience.
I was one of many that raved about Jay Robinson pre season but to be honest I've been a bit dissapointed with him of late. His form has regressed this season so I would like to see Sam Edozie given a chance.
Also I'd prefer Edozie before Archer, I understand that they are different types of players , Archer is a more central striker (but not a very good one).
Edozie has lots of quality & is direct & takes defenders on.
He must be worth a try. |
