Thread | Don't you just hate these International Breaks

One month into the season & everything stops for pointless International Matches.
I just hate them & really do not enjoy watching International football.
I see that a shed load of players have already dropped out of the England squad pretending to be injured or tired.
I'm convinced that some clubs ( not all) give players incentives to not play for their country ( perhaps a bit controversial or just cynical) but that what it looks like to me.
The desire to play for England is not what it used to be.
Micky Channon said that he would have walked barefoot on broken glass to get to Wembley and play for his Country. |

I'm going to play Devils Advocate here & say that I personally don't think we'll even make the play offs, with or without Tonda.
Our squad is just not strong enough this season.
We've lost players & not replaced them or replaced them with worse players.
Dobbin is worse than Archer (hard to believe I know)
Zach Abbot at this stage of his career is not a patch on THB.
We replaced Stewart with Mubama & a fit Stewart was superior to Mubama.
Albeit unsurprisingly Stewart hasn't played a league game this season due to another injury so perhaps we've lost nothing there.
We lost Shea Charles & replaced with JWP, good financial gain for the club & JWP will do a job in this lge, bur we lost a good young player with potential.
We still have Fellows & Edozie & neither are not physically able to shine in what is a brutal lge.
And YES I'll happily eat my words if we get into the play offs. |

Totally immature & unnecessary.
Does this sort of thing not constitute bringing the game into "Disrepute.
If so they should be punished as we were. |

Agree 100%.
Neil McCann came with the reputation of being the Scottish Ryan Giggs.
What a joke he was just awful.
More like Ronald Biggs than Ryan Giggs. |

Agree 100%.
Flynn Downes acts like a leader unlike Slack Jack.
FD has been a revelation when wearing the captains armband.
We do have numerous leader in the side now fron back to front.
Peretz is verbal & an organiser.
Sletterbeck is commanding & a leader
With FD & JWP in midfield we have energetic leaders.
Up front Cyle Larin is a strong character.
Not forgetting Leo's enthusiasm & skill plus Finn's quality.
That's not a bad backbone to the team. |

Whats happened to the Daniel Peretz of last season.
He's looked decidedly dodgy in all games this season.
He looks nervous & edgy this season & his kicking has been dreadful.
We have resorted to playing out from the back again ( Russell Martin) style.
Not sure this is by design or are the opposing teams forcing us to play that way.
But we need to get back to basics & get the ball forward much quicker.
We are getting good results particularly at home but it's not quite right yet.
Not enough fluidity / consistency or control of the game.
Perhaps I'm expecting too much.
But credit where it's due, if it hadn't been for the 4 point deduction we'd be joint top on points, so keep it up.
I must say that Flynn Downes looks a differently player when he's captain,
he's been exceptional.

Lost 3
Goals for 4
Goals against 11.
How does that guy keep getting jobs in football ?.
Probably same reason as Russell Martin, both can talk a good game but are totally rubbish at coaching. |

JWP might be shadow of what he was but he was by far our best player today.
We know he's not the most creative, everything is sideways & backwards but at least he looked interested none of the others did.
Thats probably the worst Championship game I've ever watched. |

I was at Alan Knights Testimonial, despite being a Pompey player he was a legend & a credit to the game.
There was a great turn out for his Testimonial just a shame that he had to come out at the end of the game and plead with the Pompey supporters to behave & go home.
We were locked in behind the goal looking over the top of the stand watching hundreds of Pompey supporters waiting to get at us.
We were kept in until the police , police dogs & police horses had dispered the trouble makers.
Thre were young kiddies in there with us that were getting very scared & upset.
But at least we had it was good evening. |

Looks like we are now targeting 18yr old ctr back Luca Reggiani.
He's right footed & 6ft 4" tall.
Bit of a gamble with an 18 Yr old but at the right price he could be a good investment. |

Looks like Sugarwara is going out on loan with an option to buy.
Unless I'm mistaken that leaves us with just one right full back in James Bree.

What a waste of 8m on Lewis Dobbin.
He offers absolutely nothing.
Too light weight, cannot hold the ball up, cannot pass the ball.
Just what we didn't need another no hoper.
