I partly agree. Yes his minutes are disappointing. But if/when fit he can do a job at this level. Ideally (for me) he would take up a player/coach role where he'd have a regular wage/income from the coaching aspect and a pay as you play when fit enough. Win-Win. That's assuming he has interest in coaching with us of course.

We talking about the same Joe Allen as the ones who's still deemed good enough by Craig Bellamy to represent his country?

No he's not the Allen of old who would sniff out counter attacks with ease and help dictate play for 90 minutes, but don't underestimate what he's offering behind the scenes. Yes he's having injury issues, and I'm sure he's more frustrated than anyone. But if he's on the right contract with moderate wages I still think he's got at least another season in him where he can come on for the final 20-30 minutes to see games out when we're in a winning position and give our first choice regulars some rest.

Agree with Vigaroux or Franco. I can't see any others even being in the conversation really.

And I don't think we'll be facing the drop last week of the season. Get Leeds out of the way then every game is one we can get points from.

Exactly Keith. It was good/smart business. My understanding is Aalborg weren't prepared to let him go until their season finished (which tells you how highly they rate him). So it was a case of if you want him, you can have him, but not until next season. Yes money talks, and perhaps we could have slapped another couple of Million on the table to get him in early, but that reeks of desperation and wouldn't necessarily be good business particularly with our financial constraints.

All in all I'm happy with the deal. I think he's a player we'll get a good couple of years performance from then sell for a significant profit if he performs to expectations and realises his potential.

Hopefully the hierarchy won't allow him to run his contract down to twelve months though and shift the balance of power to the player which will reduce his value and the fee we could get.

No interest in Vipotnik ? Not true ? Oh yes it is !

Wait until we get Widell in and unleash him in the championship. From what I've seen he looks like a high octane all action attacking midfielder. He'll draw in defenders more than any player we currently have which will create space and opportunity for VIP next year. He should be hitting double figures if he's injury free.

I can't understand if you're Welsh why you would actively support England over/more than your own country just because they play/compete in most major tournaments... Not to the extent of jumping on a bus and watching them live.

If Wales aren't in a tournament and your one of those who want England to do well as supporting a fellow member of Great Britain then fair enough. I personally always support the opposition, for no other reason than the sooner England go out the less we hear in the media about how "this year is their year" and "it's coming home" and that Neil Diamond song which is now absolutely ruined. I take great joy seeing them get knocked out and having their hopes and dreams crushed

Is that the same Popov from Llanelli who we had in our young academy before he got picked up by Manchester and is currently on the books at Leicester and on loan to Barrow? We could do a lot worse than taking a look at him. He's had some injury problems but he's a talented, physical boy. Take a look Montague.

Why I don't want Sheehan
at 18:24 12 Mar 2025

Do you think it will depend on who the manager is? Why would they get new coaches in before the new manager if the new manager wants to bring his own backroom team in? I think the former needs to be resolved before looking at the support structure (which would be subject to change) around him.

Yeah, if he now has aspirations to be a number 1 now then I think he possibly needs to be offered the gig, as we will risk losing him anyway if someone else sees the potential and gives him an offer. But it would be a shame from the perspective of having that loyal stalwart who's happy to be a coach/interim only and give us/the board some confidence that they have that in the locker if they need to pull the trigger in the future.

Imagine where we would have been if we didn't have someone like Sheehan available after Duff/Williams. Would we have steadied the ship or dug ourselves into a deeper hole whilst they find a successor.

Why I don't want Sheehan
at 17:52 12 Mar 2025

This is not about his ability or potential, and if he were to take the role on a full time basis, I would be both pleasantly surprised and give him my full backing. But here's why I don't want him to take the role :-

Firstly, he's previously distanced himself from it on a permanent basis, maybe he's uncomfortable being a number 1 and perhaps if he were to take it on a permanent basis the pressure will really be on opposed to having a free swing at it as interim boss. But that's not the real reason. My real reason is for stability, I would love Sheehan to be a stalwart of the backroom team so that he can continue to do what he is doing now, being that man who can step in and steady the ship when needed like the likes of Curtis has done in the past.

If he's given the role full time, and ultimately fails, he will be fired opposed to downgraded back into the coaching set up. I think that would be a big loss to us long term.

I don't want to dampen his ambitions, if he's up for it, and understands the risks then ok, but if not or he's unsure I'd rather we didn't put pressure on him and actually secure his services long term with improved terms as a coach.

Appreciate any manager who comes in may want to make changes to the backroom team to get their own people in, but the Swans hierarchy can make it clear to any potential incoming manager that Sheehan is not on the table for those considerations for the succession planning / damage control purposes.

Another low crowd

Incentives to attend the next 5 home matches is all very well and good to maybe attract some new fans, but if they're not entertained by what they see on the pitch then they are unlikely to return.

If we want to see friends of 18k+ regularly again we need to play successful and entertaining football. Fans need to feel the club is trying to achieve something, and that will take some investment in a new manager (if Sheehan doesn't want the gig full time) and playing personally for next season.

Not a quick fix I'm afraid.
