Agreed, and to add to it, Martin could claim he wasnāt given the tools to enable him to do his job properly, I.e. quality of players, no established PL CF signed, failure to sign his No.1 requested target OāRiley who went to Brighton ect, ectā¦
Please note I am NOT sticking up for RM here just agreeing it would be very difficult to make a āfair dismissalā happen.
The answer lies with rolling contracts. Make all managers contracts 12 months rolling contracts that renew on June 1st every year. Maximum pay-off would then be measured in months and relinquished at the point the manager was re-employed. Yes, it would technically make good managers at smaller clubs more susceptible to being poached and the compo less but if a manager sees what he thinks is a better opportunity they walk anyway (as RM did from Swansea)
It would take UEFA to grow a pair and bring this in as a rule to put an end to the nonsense of over rewarding failure for an extended period of time. |

Some years ago David Pleat was co-coms on a live game where the fans were protesting loudly for the manager to be sacked, Pleatās observation was along the lines of when the fans call for the manager to go the board back him but when they call for the board to go they sack him!
I think the Spurs game is the perfect opportunity for the Northam Wall Of Sound to cause maximum embarrassment to SR as it is live on TV and therefore broadcast to the world. To the same tune we first sang Nathan Jones, your football is sh!t (away at Palace after about his sixth game in charge!!) I would suggest the following:
1 - Same song, just swap RM for NJ
2 - Same song, but change lyrics to RM f@@k off out of our club
3 - Same song, but swap SR for RM as in 2 above
4 - Same song, but change lyrics to Our owners are sh!t, our owners are sh!t. sport republic, our owners are sh!t
That should get the message across pound and clear. |

Like the fabled cockroach you can bet RM would survive, the metorite would be heading for Southampton but RM's vibes means it would go sideways, backwards and further sideways before totalling P****mouth and doing Ā£5bn's worth of improvements. |

Last week, at the age of 51, Paddy McGuinness cycled from Wrexham to Glasgow on a Raleigh Chopper bike for BBC Children In Need raising over Ā£9m. He did this in 4.5 days so was cycling approx 70 miles a day, there or thereabouts for the first 4 days, less on the last day arriving in Glasgow Friday lunchtime. The route took him through the steep hills of the Lake District and then over Shap Summit. Heās a 51 y/o Radio 2 DJ, had Ross Stewart, a 28 y/o professional sportsman been asked to do it, when they went over to the mobile reporter based at the first day lunch stop and asked if he was there yet, the reply would have beenā¦. heās two weeks away š |

What will it take for him not to be proud of his team?
* 35% possession
* The keeper hoofing the ball clear so long and so high it comes down with snow on it midway in our attacking half of the pitch
* Defenders clearing the ball in a similar fashion
* Midfielders playing quick incisive forward passes, not sideways and backwards triangles
* Wingers putting crosses into the box for AA who forsakes his wide position and plays as a CF or for Tall Paul when he comes on for the last 20 minutes
* In summary, totally ignoring RMās cr@p tactics and doing their own thing

Agree 100% with both of you. I have always maintained that we got promoted last season despite RM not because of him. Because he is so stubborn I donāt think he is either capable of change or even willing to consider it so we are effectively relegated as possession football seems to have SR in some kind of induced hypnotic state and therefore they seem to have no intention of changing anything. What grieves me is how unnecessary this all is and what it will cost us going forwards, and I donāt just mean in terms of lost revenue but also our best / most promising young players. All for the flawed belief in a system of playing that was never fit for purpose. |

Sack Ankersen as well, he's a bigger pri@k than Martin. I see SR, and Ankersen in particular, as a cancer that is just slowly eating our Club away from the inside. Solak needs to find himself a reliable lieutenant with a decent knowledge of football, bin Ankersen & Martin and get the club back on its feet and heading in the right direction ASAP. |
