| Your Report | Plymouth Argyle v Southampton Your Report added at 00:43:20 Our 17-year old Championship debutant O-O really stood out with an impact when coming on as a substitute. What a skillful dribbler. Young Charles' performance also very uplifting. Very good game I thought. Up the Saints :) |
| Your Report | Plymouth Argyle v Southampton Your Report added at 03:36:06 Considering Argyles' stats from the last half of last season and the beginning of this season - this was such a great away win. We were the better team on the day, I thought, but we could have lost with that shot on our post very late in the match. Everyone needs a little luck sometimes - we were due some luck - and to score the winner in minute 94 or 95 was so sweet. Great win. We march on. I love The Saints. |
| Your Report | Sheffield Wednesday v Southampton Your Report added at 10:09:29 Being the first match of the season, having a new manager in 2 months ago, I thought that performance was great. Maybe Sheffield Wed. were poor, but still. Almost 1000 perfect passes? Wow. We have to defend corners better, though. It feels so good to start the season with 3 points. We so rarely do. :) Good work team and staff. |
| Your Report | Chelsea v Southampton Your Report added at 17:04:38 Also very, very pleased for Ruben Selles, ex- assistant for AGF (Aarhus), Danish SuperLeague), FC Copenhagen ex-assistant (Danish Superleague) and ex-coach for Belgian club Anderlects U-18 team. His starting 11 selection and match management/subs. choices was good. Fantastic to see Stuey Armstrong start <3 VERY WELL DONE RUBEN S., STAFF AND PLAYERS <3 |
| Your Report | Brentford v Southampton Your Report added at 22:49:25 That was sh*t , but we could actually quite easily have scored three goals in that match. So the fact that we created those chances is the only positive for me (besides my ok satisfaction with our January signings). Jan B starting and playing the whole match? Walcott in the squad and getting minutes on the pitch? My guess is that NJ was afraid of fatigue issues due to so many games lately, and that his (bad) team selection - at least partially - reflected that. But why not start with our two new exciting signings? No playing time for C-Car and Lyanco and leaving Charly on the bench were bad calls. Orsic out of the squad was so stupid. Sh*t that KWP is injured. Hope he will be back soon. One of our best players without a doubt. Gutted with the result. |
| Your Report | Southampton v Blackpool Your Report added at 19:14:01 Pwew...... On to the next one. Most positive: on to round 5 of the FA Cup and......5th victory for Nathan Jones (NJ) in 10 matches. 5 defeats, zero draws. NJ might be an ok choice to bring us out of our Premier League mess? It looks like he is close to having found his best 11 and his next best 11 + his formation(s) look ok. Alcaraz a really good signing + I have faith in the fact that Orsic will come good. Hope there is still time to sign a decent striker. |
| Your Report | Everton v Southampton Your Report added at 13:14:55 With our new players, new manager and - now - some good signs of better tactics, more clever formations, better performances in both defense and midfield, based on our 3 past games (wins), we really only need one factor strongly now: A proven PL striker. We need more goals. We need more two nils and we want to see 3 nils once in a while........ Danny Ings, anyone? With his age and 2 cruciate ligament operations and based on his lack of success in Villa he should not cost more than 10 million pounds. I think the majority of our fans would welcome him back, and it's the only way for him to get a chance of getting one more England game. |
| Your Report | Everton v Southampton Your Report added at 01:57:48 3 wins in 3 games in all competitions and first win at Goodiscum Park since 1997 (where a young Kevin Davies scored an unforgettable goal in a 2-0 win). Caleta-Car lead the back well again, Diallo has stepped up to being much better in a no. 6 role and JWP clearly enjoys playing further up the pitch as a no. 8 (or 10) with Lavia and Diallo behind him. Good job by Nathan Jones (NJ) deciding to play JWP in a more attacking role. It has paid off very well, and today JWP showed his class with 2 great goals, now with 16 direct PL freekick goals scored and just 2 less than Beckhams record. I believe it was JWPs goal number 50 and 51 for Saints. He is without doubt a loyal, true Saint. Amazing. Every Saints player on the pitch put in a good performance today, and we suddenly look a better team after 3 wins in a week. Very well done NJ, staff and Saints players. Young Carlos Alcaraz had a good half hour on the pitch and a debut to remember with some good positioning, energy and defending. MOTM: JWP <3 Now a good weeks time till the next match. Congratulations to everyone related to and supporting the Saints. |
| Your Report | Southampton v Manchester City Your Report added at 12:02:59 Wonderful performance by Saints. I'm very proud of them and Nathan Jones. Good to see Mara get his first goal and just as good to see Moussa Djenepo re-open his goal scoring account with a fine finish. Bring on N'CastleArabia United. |
| Your Report | Crystal Palace v Southampton Your Report added at 16:55:30 0 points. Disappointing.... In the transfer window, Did we get: Goalkeeper upgrade?: Yes Central defenders upgrade?: Yes Full Backs upgrade?: Probably not, but we were ok anyway Holding midfielders upgrade?: Yes, probably, especially if Lavia is fit and plays No. 10s / wingers upgrade?: Yes Striker upgrade: NO, unfortunately NOT! Disappointed that Che could not finish better from those two huge chances? |
| Your Report | Southampton v Arsenal Your Report added at 00:51:35 Good point!!! Bad start and we rode our luck, but man did we improve eventually. Second half we defended well and created stuff, and our goal was a beauty. Elyounoussi as RB? Well....., he gets my MOTM I think ; Bcause of his incredible Jesus clearance when Jesus was one-on-one with Bazunu when Diallo lost the ball in a 'red' zone - AND Bcause of his great assist to Stueys goal in which also Aribo, Armstrong and Perraud were involved with fine play. Couldn't believe Adams didn't start , and Ralph was NOT unlucky with his tactics. Still, GREAT result and fight. Bazunu is great! COYS <3 |
| Your Report | AFC Bournemouth v Southampton Your Report added at 14:34:49 Now the point against West Ham feel (even) better. I thought we saw some good performances in there vs Bournemouth. Jaleta-Car seemed calm, cool and collected and made sure Solanke didn't shine. Other mature performances from Bazunu, Perraud, a much better looking Ainsley M-N, KWP and Salisu and everybody ran themselves into the ground to protect that lead. Substitutes did well to help us keep the ball, Lyanco fought with his life for that clean sheet, and Che Adams was man of the match. Looks like the bleeding has stopped. At least till' the Arse game. COYS. |
| Your Report | Aston Villa v Southampton Your Report added at 06:39:35 @halftimeorange I agree from a - z. If there are there any proven free agent attackers out there we should show interest. I see that Nicolai jörgensen, 31, center forward, 9 goals in 39 international games for Denmark, big strong lad, is available. Might be worth a try. Having in mind that both our CEO (Ankersen) and chairman (Kraft) are from Denmark and know him well. It's NOT Saints recruitment policy, though, I know. |
| Your Report | Aston Villa v Southampton Your Report added at 04:42:05 Disappointing to say the least. Halftimeorange said it all. Their mediocre midfield won the midfield battles where we had too many underperformers. It annoyes me that Aribo and Stuey didn't start. Better footballers than Diallo, Moussa and Moi. And where was Ainsley M.N. in the squad???? It also annoyes me that a Villa player - clearly offside when the ball was crossed from a free kick into our box - benefits from his (off side) position to score after our keeper palmed the initial attempt onto the crossbar. I.M.O. a player being offside on the initial cross inside the box shouldn't be allowed to benefit from his offside position and score one or two seconds after the initial cross into the box. Any team can just put a player in the box in an offside position - unmarked - from a free kick cross - and hope the ball ends at his unmarked feet or head after one or two 'bounces' of the ball. Ultimately the ball ends up in the net by an offside player, and confused defenders put their heads in their hands in disbelieve while VAR referees probably have to look up the confusing offside rules before allowing the ref to allow the goal. Our two teenagers brought in from M. City, brought on in the second half, were the ONLY (small) positives from the match. They did ok. Now we have to beat Everton - or Ralph will start losing my support. I have soon had it with his match squads / line ups. SOON. |
| Your Report | Southampton v Chelsea Your Report added at 11:57:34 A really good match to watch, great team effort and deserved win. Another record btw :-D as Lavia is the youngest to have scored a goal in the PL. (So we have fastest goal (Shane L), fastest hattrick (Mané), youngest goalscorer + best (currently playing) free kick scorer = records we can be proud of). Lavias injury looked like 'a partially pulled hamstring' and hopefully meaning maximum 5 weeks absence, hopefully less. On a positive note: 1) So happy for Lavia that he does so well for the team and that he became youngest PL scorer ever. 2) Surely Ralph will NOT sell Oriol now. Oriol loves Southampton, we love him and his experience, and I hope we agree a new 2 year contract with him instead of shipping him out for almost nothing to Girona or whatever that promoted la Liga team is called, that allegedly wants to sign him. He is too good to let go for peanuts to a small, Spanish team. Diallo as our only defensive midfield cover is clearly not enough, respectfully. |
