Ki's dad reveals the story behind Swansea's loaning out Ki and not getting him back.

기성용은 지난해 여름 스완지에서 선덜랜드로 1년 임대 이적을 했다. 그는 선덜랜드에서 곧바로 자리를 잡았고 중추적인 역할을 하고 있다. 반면 스완지는 기성용의 공백 후유증을 뼈저리게 느끼고 있다. 스완지의 지난 시즌 일으켰던 돌풍은 이미 사라진 상태다.
Ki had joined Swansea side last summer and this season he was loaned out to Sunderland for one full season.

Ki feels that he is considered to be playing an important part to get Sunderland going based on Poyet's firm support towards him.

However, Swansea is struggling unlike the last season, as they struggle to organise the team spirit as one, and due to unexpected late injuries of their first team players.

Young-Oak Ki(Ki's dad) who is in charge of Korean football association of Gwangju city.

reveals that Laudrup has mistakenly abandoned Ki for ridiculous speculations of his own.

"Many think that Laudrup is the one who sent Ki away to Sunderland, but it is definitely not the case" says Young-Oak Ki

"The contract made by both Ki and Swansea includes a clause that the player will be guaranteed to play the least 20 games as a starter which Ki himself wanted and included."

"The Chelsea game was his 20th game playing as a starter, and this is the game he resulted in heavy injury on his thigh. Ki told Laudrup that he would like to treat his injury in the Korean National Medical Centre as he precisely judged the facilities there are much better than those in the club medical centre."

"Ki added that he is convinced that the medical system would help him recover more efficiently as the national football team doctor of South Korea advised him that way."

"However, Laudrup mistakenly believed that Ki was trying to make a lame excuse after his 20th game of him being starter so as to slack off as much as he can. That inconsiderate thought of Laudrup led him to disliking Ki."

"Laudrup then approved Ki of his suggestion and let him go get treated in Korea.
And Ki believed Laudrup fully understood what he told him and took it to his heart with gratitude"

"When Ki came back, Laudrup brought in new players at his position and started ignoring him and excluding him from game to game. and this continued for a while."

"Ki realised something was wrong, and he asked Laudrup why he can't play as a regular starter. Laudrup said to Ki that he isn't trustworthy as a professional footballer and avoided Ki in any direct conversations."

"When Swansea tested out players' stamina, Ki was rated the 4th of the whole first team squad, yet Laudrup kept making excuses that he is not fully ready or Ki has to win his position by sheer competition."

"Ki outran those competitors in the training yet, Laudrup didn't give him a glance."

"The reason why Swansea didn't get Ki back was due to Laudrup's own objection toward the plan, yet the club unlike Laudrup, wants to keep Ki in a long run."

"Swansea offered an extension in Ki's contract with better clauses but Ki was obviously worried about Laudrup's dislike of him. So Ki is being cautious"



기영옥 회장에 따르면 기성용은 스완지 입단 당시 20경기 ì„ ë°œ 출장 옵션이 있었고, 첼시전이 20번째 ì„ ë°œ 경기였다. 기성용은 첼시전에서 허벅지를 다쳤고, 스완지보다 대표팀 의료 시설이 좋다고 판단해 “한국에서 치료를 받고 월드컵 예선에 ë›°ê³  싶다”ê³  요청했다.

하지만 라우드럽 감독은 기성용이 선발 출장 옵션을 다 채우니 꾀병을 앓는다고 오해했다.

그리고 기성용이 7월말 스완지에 복귀를 하니 ì¡´ì¡° 셀비를 비롯해서 다수의 미드필더가 보강되어 있었다. 이를 본 기성용은 라우드럽 감독이 마음의 정리를 í•œ 것으로 판단했다. 기영옥 회장은 “성용이가 스완지 복귀 후 ì²´ë ¥ 테스트에서 ì „ì²´ 4위를 했는데 경기는 후반에나 넣어주었다. 그래서 성용이가 라우드럽 감독과 면담했다. 아파서 뒤늦게 복귀한 '데 구즈만'은 선발로 넣고 몸이 좋아진 자신은 왜 안 넣어주느냐고. 라우드럽 감독은 경쟁을 해야 한다고 답했다”ê³  당시 상황을 설명했다.

이어 기영옥 회장은 “성용이가 '선발로 기용하지 않으려면 임대를 보내달라'ê³  요청했다”ë©´ì„œ “라우드럽 감독은 임대는 클럽 소관이라며 회피했다”ê³  덧붙였다.

이후 기성용은 스완지 회장과의 ë©´ë‹´ 등을 통해 선덜랜드로 임대를 떠나게 됐다. 현재 스완지는 기성용에게 재계약을 요청하고 있지만, 기성용은 난색을 표하고 있다. 기영옥 회장은 “ìž‘ë…„ 12ì›” 영국에 갔을 ë•Œ 스완지는 계약 연장을 요구했다. 그러나 성용이는 라우드럽 감독이 있는 í•œ 어렵다는 입장이었다”ë©° 기성용과 라우드럽 감독의 관계가 예전같지 않다고 전했다.

기영옥 회장은 이 외에도 ‘에프앤’에 어린 시절 기성용을 축구선수로 키우게 된 계기 및 호주로 유학을 보낸 ë°°ê²½ 등 사커대디로서의 뒷바라지를 소상히 이야기했다.

Hi all :)

Ever since last season, I have been watching Swansea playing fantastic and elegant possession football and at times sniping big names in the league.

Unlike the little missy here making noise all-'round who is from the same country as me,
I will cheer for you and visit some home games whilst I am still having the chances

I've studied your history a bit to present you a certain level of respect.

e.g. how you have the name "Jack Army" etc (the legendary dog that saved people back in 1920s)


anyway, I've been normally observing your threads and translating your reactions and comments into Korean at the biggest translation website called "gasengi.com"

People there really love listening to what you local lads say about your yesterdays and today.


There is another reason I have officially joined your forum as a "user", it is because of the user named

"Kiisgod"

She(I believe its 'she') is maybe too young to understand what being a fan means and have been messing around here and there all the time, commenting utter sh1te everywhere.

I, who may or may not represent the Korean fans, would like to apologise for what this little sissy has done so far.

Its either she doesn't know much about football or she is just too obsessed with ONE SINGLE FOOTBALLER: Ki sung yueng for some reasons.

Just like some troublesome teenage Justin Bieber fans around the world at her age.

Let's get along, regardless of the player Ki.

Even if he leaves, plz know that there are tons of Korean "fans" who would stay with you with all sincerity.

Unlike other Asian fans, we are very proud to value our special loyalty and devotion for a society.
