The stats lads at Opta agree (as do I). They give us a 99.98% chance of staying up. Felt very hairy after Stoke but much like the boro game in November that seems like a bit of another turning point. Since then conceded very few chances and gone back to what worked through the winter. [Post edited 9 Apr 22:12]

I don’t know if you’ve seen the 6”4 non tackling, non heading CM - but you wanna give the guys who signed him to play against Millwall, Oxford, Portsmouth and the rest more money to waste? An Eze sale would amount to the biggest get out of jail free card since the Zamora moment. We deserve that, the board and data god-child don’t. |

I think that description of how the ownership run the club (a plaything for rich boys) can be filed under “not serious” |
 | Forum Reply | We need a Director of Football at 16:59 6 Apr 2025
Never mind another football club, any serious multi million pound business (that has struggled for a decade) does not hire a 28 year old with no relevant experience as their CEO and Managing Director. But these owners are not capable of running a serious football club. It’s as simple as that. |

Not on social media anymore, but my brother has sent me some of the blue tick wa**** brigades posts - you’d think he’s killed someone. Delusional is unfair on the deluded |

Without wanting to be all data, stats, and dickheady about it - look at the top 4 in that season and compare it to now. Points distribution is more relevant to these conversations than points totals. |

1 step forwards 2 steps back. And injuries. All the injuries (not an excuse, self inflicted through bat shyt Dubai based working). |

Managers rarely resign. They may be approached for (/source) another job and leave, sure, but that’s not the same thing as handing in your resignation to get out. We see it all the time, particularly in bottom of prem - horrible, hopeless situations like Southampton this season you don’t quit. You walk away from a massive pay packet by doing so. I can think of elite resignations (Klopp, Pep at Barca etc) but can anyone name the last championship level manager to resign? Unless you define walking away as doing an Honest Mick, in which case fine. But that does not sound like “walking” in the way you mean |

Cook/Frey is all about the amount of money they want. In principle I agree keeping them around is preferable (we have seen very clearly that you don’t get that far in this league with a team of European midgets). But, and it’s a big but, Frey’s fitness and availability is poor and I don’t think anyone who has been down there since New Year can tell me Cook’s legs aren’t going going gone. I would only keep them on pretty heftily reduced wedge, and failing that go out and get a few 28-31 year old experienced pros on frees for cheaper who can play the old head role (assuming we’re not looking for 40 game a season starters here). Jimmy aside not fussed about the rest. Think Saito will be a very good player one day but unsure if it will be on these shores. |

Christ alive lads, he could literally be referring to anything. It’s almost like we’re lower mid table heading towards the end of the season and need something to panic about. Can we just win a couple games to get over the line first and do the whole ITK/MC leaving/CN is a dictator threads in May |

He looks comfortably the best option without Field/Varane fit to play CDM, which says a hell of a lot about his ability - to slot in at centre mid against the best team in the league without really looking out of place. If only we could keep him. Really hoping Rohl’s Saints go and buy some German gegenpress nutters and they have no need for him come Jan’26. Met Varane outside the paddocks yesterday. Said he was feeling good and gave the impression it isn’t anything too serious. Nice lad. |

Stoke Cardiff Oxford in a row (2 away) after international break. Don’t start to pick up some points in that run and it will get very hairy very quickly. We’ve tried to open up and it’s gone horribly wrong again. We don’t have the players for it, especially in deep areas. I don’t know how many more times I can watch Cook pass a ball at snails pace to Dunne, who then has no option on and chips it into the channel for their LCB to collect. This squad needs so much work to play that way, and it’s a pointless task trying to do it with players who simply aren’t good enough on the ball. |

This team isn’t getting many more points. Let’s hope last seasons survival points total isn’t replicated. |

Very weak, very easily bullied. Wonder if all the Twitter tacticos can see why Field has to be in this team, this is what it looks like without someone like him/Varane. |

It’s felt for a while now the current bottom 3 are gone. Don’t want to count any chickens just yet, but I think had last years Huddersfield been around this year (45 from 46) they’d stay up. 3 truly awful teams in an especially crap league this season. |

Since the start of the 2023/2024 season they’ve played 72 games and accumulated 54 points at 0.75ppg. If they weren’t such a horrible club I’d almost feel sorry for them. [Post edited 26 Feb 17:32]

Yeah I think it’s going to be a much more normal points total to be safe this year. Reckon about where we are will be enough. Get the sentiment for stoke being lucky to stay up, but do you really see the current bottom 3 getting anymore than 40ish points? Plymouth maybe, but Luton and Derby are getting worse not better - they need a Rohl/Marti style surge and the evidence does not suggest that’s gonna happen based on what we’ve seen so far. For context, we had 35 points after 34 games last year, and SW had 32. The improvement was there for all to see. Luton/Derby/Plymouth, 28/29/30. Bleak. |

Without wanting to stray into any modern shouting match about politics on the internet, just because someone is very good at running one business does not mean they are therefore good at running all businesses, football clubs, or government agencies (cough cough). Find it amusing that people are able to see this easily with Ratcliffe and not with others. What % of football club owners run their club in a sustainable, successful way? 10%? Less? They’re egotistical billionaires, exploiting the common man is basically their MO |
