Agree. If a coach/manager hasn't got the players to play the way they want they have to be pragmatic and capable of changing tactics and systems. Saying trust in the system and keeping playing it when everyone, players, fans and coaches know that the players don't fit that system is the definition of insanity.

Also if Plan A isn't working a plan B or even C is needed. Plan B can't be keep on with plan A but try and do it better.

I'm speculating that there is data that shows he gets his teams to over perform and that some think that based on his data in the Swedish League he could take a team in the Championship places.

Like Ruben Amorim has done at a higher level with Man Utd based on his work in Portugal with Braga and Spiorting or Ange Postecoglou has done with Spurs based on his work in Australia, Japan and Scotland.

The micromanaging is the issue. All teams need to have a tactical set up and structure, but players should be able to use that as the basis to play from not be constricted by it.

Does anyone watch the Premier League ?
at 21:02 2 Apr 2025

For once had the opportunity to watch it today.

I could see Tarkowski getting away with that tackle with a lot of championship referees (often depending on whether he was the home team or they were perceived as a big team). He clearly saw the opportunity to leave one on McAllister and I don't understand why VAR didn't intervene.

I think that it was a must to have a player with championship experience in the engine room looking at the position we were/are in.

To me it appears that we have already been using info from Football Radar, different market to Notts County.

I'm assuming the manager in the USA is Eric Ramsay.

Lots of big decisions to be made. I hope that someone who knows what they are doing has input into them.

In my opinion Coleman doesn't seem to have a clue about running a football club in the UK. If the new investors are serious they need a chairman that understands how to do it.

Swansea City v Middlesbrough : Match day thread

Was Grimes playing the way the managers wanted? I can only assume so otherwise he would have been dropped.

Could he do a job further forward even as a number 10? Maybe, maybe not. Doesn't matter he's part of our past, not our future.

O'Brien and Franco are doing a fantastic job where it really matters. We need to be offering Franco an improved contract now. O'Brien I believe is out of our price bracket and replacing him will not be easy as he is proven at this level.

🔴 Likely candidates for the Swans job
at 00:47 27 Feb 2025

I thought that our identity was possession with a purpose; players who were comfortable on the ball, could move it quickly to change the point of attack and drag the opposition out of shape. Always helped by a forward that could stick the ball in the back of the net.

Retaining possession is fine, but when it is done at a snails pace allowing the opposition to reset, waiting for a misplaced pass or turnover to spring a counter attack at pace it is a recipe for disaster.

Swans crush Blackburn : Was it just a coincidence ?

A fair comment.

The players you mentioned have been driving me potty. At times I've questioned their ability whilst also questioning whether we were playing to their strengths or playing in a way that could play to anyone's strengths.

We'll see how things work out with Sheehan but he appears to have far more of an idea of how to use the players at his disposal.

Would he be able to play fast counter attacking football here with this squad?

Makes sense especially because for some reason I had it in my head that Notts County were league 1 even though I knew Williams was managing them in league 2. 🤦‍♂️

Montague's role seems conflicted if he still has his role at Football Radar or am I missing something else.

Only problem with that idea is that it would result in us buying in the same shops as Notts County. I can't see the Reedtz brothers allowing us access to Football Radar if we are in the same division as them.

Access to Football Radar seems to be what Coleman has been after with Montague.

I don't either, but when people who do explain the implications of certain courses of action and what the loopholes are, it just adds to a feeling that our chairman does not really know what he is doing compared with chairmen of better run clubs.

The Swiss Rambler wrote that in season 22/23 Bournemouth had an £100 million improvement from a loss of £56 million the year before to a profit of £44 million. The majority of that was due to a write off of £71 million in shareholder loans.

I don't know if P&S rules have changed since then, but only rich shareholders (owners) can afford to write off £71 million.

There's obviously more to their success than just money, for example smart recruitment and sales, but being able to write off £71 million in loans wouldn't have hurt.
