I don’t know about anyone else, but I actually credit Warburton for a decent amount of the feel good factor in recent years. Post-relegation we were all over the place with Ramsey, Hasselbaink, McClaren, Holloway etc. Warbs calmed things down, showed that if you assemble a half-decent team of honest pros playing alright football, the fans will back you, even if you go through bad patches. I think the club’s largely been trying to replicate that ever since - obviously failed with Beale, Critchley & Gareth but seem to have recaptured it under Marti. |

Couldn’t agree more with this, thought our performance was embarrassingly short in so many areas. It’s a good job we’ve got a decent number of points on the board already: this feels like a team that’s in deeply entrenched relegation form, not just suffering a temporary blip. Serious work required on the fundamental mentality we’re bringing to games. |

Great stuff, thanks Clive. Biggest thing for me is that we’ve done our summer business within budget - given the players we’ve signed that must represent a serious discount on their (pre-Covid) market value. Also really good to get some clarity on the stadium issues, sounds like the right time to judge the club will be later in the season, once staffing and supply chains have settled down a bit. |
