Many happy returns? Preview
at 20:50 19 Dec 2025

Good preview as ever.

Regarding the Marti debate, I think much like the conversation about Nourry, there is little nuance or even room to question an accepted narrative - whether your on Twitter or a forum, people conform to their environment.

I think the St Marti (miracles do happen) narrative is overstated. It doesn’t mean the football didnt improve (very low bar) or that I that I think he tired to shaft us.

The 24/25 season was awful. We started by only wining 1 of the first 16 games. We also had the 6-2 against Leicester and another run of 7 games without a win. Despite that we finished 15th which is bang average for the last 10 seasons in the Champ. That’s also 1 point clearer of the drop compared to the previous season. The man barely moved the needle.

There was something off about that entire season. Can’t put my finger on it, but there were bad vibes coming from the club and for whatever reason, I could never warm to Marti.

There are plenty of people on here with superior football knowledge than me, who I’m sure can poke more holes in my post than a slice of Swiss cheese.

I've stood in the home end behind the goal a few times and the view is much better than expected. You're a lot closer to the action than it looks. I'm confident you'll have a good view.

Mate, it is £10 for season ticket holders! For everyone else, when you select your ticket there will be options for ticket/price ie: Adult/junior etc. There are two adult options one full price, £15, and if you scroll down you’ll find the season ticket price, £10. Obviously there’s a booking fee.

From 7pm they go on general sale and you book a max of 6.

So Cifuentes ?
at 16:41 18 Dec 2025

xG or no xG the team was literally top of the league after 16 games and nearly went down. Every other team that's been top after 16 games in the last 10 years got promoted.

I'd be interested to know the xG of those teams...you might not like it as a stat, but it did prove right. Also, let's not forget Willock was a key part in our form until he got injured.

My point isn't to argue about how good Ainsworth was. The football was total dog sh*t under him. It's more about to what extent did Marti save us and is he worthy of the praise he gets.

Wasn't there a thing about the Beale's team's xg basically saying we were overperforming during that purple patch?

We stayed up both times and both managers got the elbow. So to what extent is it the manager or players?

Marti was fine, was he special? Not convinced. Maybe he just has a taste for clubs in chaos?

6 point difference across the three seasons from Beale to Marti. Overstated claim as I said.

The 'Marti saved us' narrative is overstated, much like the line about Stephan not understanding the league. Marti saved us as much as Ainsworth saved us from Beale.

There's a bit of group think going on here.

Last thing I will say about Marti, his song was f*cking awful!

Ridiculous kick off time for west ham away
at 18:31 17 Dec 2025

West Ham offering £10 tickets for adults and encouraging fans to bring friends and family etc. Don't think there's a much appetite for this game given their current form and k/o time etc.

Lots of the same voices who wanted shot of him still jumping at the chance to talk about him though. Strange that .

You could say the same about the people who liked him?

Not a fan of Marty. No clapping or booing from me. Just want to win the game and will be cheering on my team.

QPR full of festive cheer, but is Boro after the Lord Mayor’s show? Preview
at 13:05 13 Dec 2025

Great preview as always, thanks.

I said before on a previous thread that one of the things that I liked about JS was was what he said about player making mistakes. I didn’t interpret that as we’re going to conceded goals. For me it was about how he will encourage players to play and build confidence. I like it and I think it’s working, you only have to look at Marty Madsen vs Julien Madsen. I know this is one of those unquantifiable things, but I feel Julien has a much better vibe than Marty. Granted, the squad is a different, but there’s a much better feeling this season than last. Interesting that you found him to be charismatic, I did not get that impression at all. I can’t put my finger on it, but I never had a good feeling about him.

Tuesday was amazing and intense. I don’t know how much that took out of the team, but I hope it’s given them the confidence and belief in their ability to win a game. Let’s not forget, a much worse QPR team beat a very good Burnley team away, it does happen, even for us!

Palace on Palace

My issue is Palace fans trying to portray the club as being 'multicultural and community based', NOT with multiculturalism/community work etc. Evidently I didn't communicate that distinction in my post.

Palace on Palace

Palace were a total non entity in South East London until about a decade ago. Once they got into the Premier League all the new middle class folk started taking their kids there instead of Millwall and Charlton (a bit too South East London for their taste.) This coincided with HF ultras and now Palace are trying to rebrand themselves as multicultural community club. It’s total BS and obviously papers like the Guardian love it. Arsenal are much better supported club by the type of locals these fans are trying to align themselves with. There’s literally an Arsenal mural in school playground near my house. I see why Millwall hate them and am increasingly feeling more antipathy towards them.

Are you Madsen?
at 15:53 11 Dec 2025

To add to your point, from the fan Q&A:

"The other reality is that you have different types of athletes. You've got some athletes like, for example, Field or Madsen, who maybe don't look like the quickest over ten meters, but will regularly cover a top number of kilometers a game"

Julien Stephan - He is doing quite well !!!!
at 10:52 10 Dec 2025

I like Julien and think he's doing a good job. I think he's been carrying the can for decisions made by the club which has resulted in some fans judging him a lot harder than Marti.

I don't buy this nonsense about understanding the league, he's managed football at a much higher level. IMO it's about understanding the squad. Whatever he's doing it's working, just look at the table and compare how we're playing to last season. Long may it continue!

ELO theres a big blue nose approaching-birmingham match thread
at 23:09 9 Dec 2025

Just back and I’m still buzzing! I can’t remember the last time Loftus Road went off like that, it was incredible! Under the lights, absolutely perfect, it’s why I go to QPR. Love it!!!

We deserved that. Was absolutely gutted when they equalised, but we clearly wanted it more.

Agree with all the positive words about Madsen. Two things I noticed - A few times he lost the ball the aggression in his attempts to recover was impressive. I’ve not seen that side to his game before. Also, a brilliant first time back heel to Saito (I think?) in the second half. He also did a few other lovely first time passes. Really enjoying his football and really pleased he’s found the confidence to play.

A classic night at Loftus Road, thank you Rangers!

If there's anything that can sh*t over the 'magic of the cup' image, it's West Ham vs QPR.

One is going through a major identify crisis with a fan base that is a parody of itself, playing in one of the worst stadiums in the country that represents so much of what is wrong with the sport and our nation more broadly. The other, a club that has shown total disdain for the cup and the idea of competing in a competitive sport, also the proud owners of the worst record in the 3rd round.

I can't wait.
