 | News Comment | Southampton V Crystal Palace The Preview at 14:43:42
Most fans have accepted the inevitable this season and many have trepidation about the next. It would be a good time for Solak to draw on the inspiration of the Liebherr/Cortese team that made Southampton successful in the eyes of the fans. Offer the fans the hope that somewhere is a 5/10 year plan with its main aim of being a good mid-tabled Premier League outfit. Southampton will never compete in the top six but should consistently in the middle half dozen. Get the football right and the rest will surely follow. |
 | News Comment | Sport Republic Can Be A Big Success For Southampton Says Spors at 12:22:54
Southampton fans saw passion and drive from Liebherr/Cortese partnership and that made SFC shine for the them. Would like to see Dragan team up with a real go-getter and produce the same atmosphere. That how to please the fans, |
 | News Comment | Henrik Kraft Resigns As A Director Of Sport Republic at 13:53:46
S.R. seem to be preparing to SFC for a period in the doldrums. Dragan shows to have a lot of ambition but has not got the support of like minded senior staff. So back to the drawing board. Some pruning will be very necessary and encouraging growth too but it has to be controlled by a sound knowledge base. |
 | News Comment | A New Name In The Hat For Southampton Managerial Vacancy at 15:36:32
Will SR rush and just fill the vacancy, or think about the future for the club. Do you offer a short contract with an option on another year if things pan out. Do you go for someone with a decent history...tough job. Serves them right. |
 | News Comment | Russell Martin Turns On The Fans And Players at 15:19:57
I have read all of the above opinions and would like to offer my own. Someone mentioned the downward spiral of the club sine Gao was here. I believe it started when a certain Ms Liebherr thought she could do a better job than the CEO. Mr Cortese really did care about the club. He knew his decisions were unpopular but necessary. He sacked Mr Adkins as he felt Nigel could take us no further than promotion. So employed Mr Pochettino. Eleven years on SR could have done exactly the same thing. And now we are where we are. I wonder whether ABK doesn't want to play Mr Tippy Tappy style of football and is prepared to put actions to his words. I for one wouldn't blame him. Like the fans, the players maybe feel his arrogant..my way or the highway attitude is too much and have lost heart. One thing seems to be a home truth... its time to call it a day at Southampton and take his brand of football elsewhere |
 | News Comment | Southampton V Chelsea The Preview at 13:02:59
Im afraid with Russell Martin " if yer face dont fit yer not in it" attitude will ensure relegation at the end of the season. ABK should have been nurtured into the side ages ago instead of his chum Stephens, Pick the best not your best fried Sir or go elsewhere. For half a season Ive heard your admit your mistakes but you Never learned from any one of them. Time to fall on your sword before you stab all the fans that support our beloved club |
 | News Comment | Southampton V Stoke City The Carabao Cup Preview at 10:29:53
RM needs to win against Stoke for his own survival. If the fans turn against him it will make SR position of keeping him another costly mistake. More money wasted. Lots of PL managers vary the team and style of play based on the opposition. RM has done his job got us to the PL. NOW is the time for a PL manager not this wannabe. The lesson for SR don't buy a mini if you need a Rolls Royce |
 | News Comment | Southampton At Leicester The Debacle at 11:32:26
RM serial bottler. Look at previous history. He's had a season to prove "his way " is the Southampton Way. Its not. That much possession has to equate to an end product. The man is about stats not results....get in a proven results man before statman completely takes the pride out of OUR CLUB |
 | News Comment | Southampton Need 8 Points To Secure A Play Off Place at 15:02:53
Perhaps Russell Martin should switch to a cup game mentality every game. Clearly his in game management is pretty poor as it was during his reign in South Wales. Picking a team based on a showing at training is now a luxury SFC can ill afford. How many games have been surrendered due to poor/ill timed substitutions. With 8 games left and 24 points begging we should be targeting 15/18.......We need that momentum to take into the play-offs |
 | News Comment | Southampton At Ipswich The Verdict at 15:10:57
For me Martin is no better at in game management than Hasenhutl. Another management "one trick pony" are we Swansea 2.0. A defender redcarded for a yellow card offence made it easy for Ipswich to win because Martin still plays gung ho football. A good manager would have shut up shot at two each....but not us. Taxi for Russell Martin as far as I am concerned. |
 | News Comment | No Room For Error In Southampton Promotion Push at 16:37:21
I think our run is really down to RM. He needs to decide if he wishes to shoehorn in his favouites or play the best 11. Then make his substitutions both timely and effectiveley. If a player is having a bad first half hook him at 45mins dont wait until 75th when its too late. I think Russell will be happy with plyoffs and not offend his mates |
 | News Comment | Southampton At West Bromwich Albion The Verdict at 16:27:58
Agreement with most comments, but would like to just add a discussion point, is the hold up on both Adams and S Armstong contract ANYTHING to do with the question of what division will we be in next season. For us its advantageous to wait for players it could be a chance worth taking. Adams i dont thinlk will get any mega offere from premier league teams. Stuart could walk in to quite a few. Just a thought |
 | News Comment | Southampton V Huddersfield Town The Preview at 11:48:02
Although Im not a football manager Ive often wondered why teams dont try to "win" the game in the first and then at halftime make the changes to rest the players that have done the hard miles in the first half. Thus offering the ability, if in the lead to bloster weaker players. Maybe just changing two or three at halftime also leaves the manager the option of two or three changes if needed later in the game. Goalkeepers should never need resting. And some player thrive on games like JWP |
