What a bizarre take.
If they were more interested in saving their own skins wouldn't they be enacting policy that was a bit more popular?
And this government isn't remotely socialist. It's not even as left wing as the Cameron-Clegg coalition, and that wasn't at all left wing

This question was answered earlier in the season; he was straight back in the starting team.
The difference now is that for a long while we were quite reliant on him but now there are so many different quality options in attack, not so much. Stephan has really stuck with Dembele through his erratic form, more displays like Saturday may cement his starting position (even if that wasn't the most testing game).
What a wonderful and novel feeling it is to have genuine options. |

It's delusional to imagine that any promoted team won't spend big. No team comes back down having banked all the money, it just doesn't work like that. You spend to stay there while you're there, what's the point in waiting to be relegated and having to do it again? And don't underestimate the lasting impact of being walloped every week because you didn't strengthen. |

No I don't think we are worse than Hull or Preston. They won't be going up either.
I can only conclude a few of us are still high on the post-victory libations.
If you say that ten teams are currently in with a realistic chance of making the play-offs (it may be more, but let's go with ten), that's a 10% chance. Once there you have a 25% chance of promotion (all things being equal which they won't be for us). A 25% chance of a 10% chance equals 2.5% and I think that's about right for us; possible but highly unlikely. |

But the discussion isn't about making the playoffs, it's about going up. Sure we can make the playoffs from here, but winning the playoffs requires beating two of the top six, one of which will be Coventry, Boro or Ipswich who've scored 14 against us for a reply of 3. We've gained 4 points in 6 games v the current top six.
If you're all so bullish I'm sure you're backing us at current odds.

Kone isn't in the Ivory Coast squad and not on the reserve list. They just called up a reserve forward and the tournament kicks off tonight.
So if it is going to happen we're into implausible scenarios like Infantino demanding he be called up with the threat of a ban from international football and Trump backing him militarily. |

Well, we lost 7-1 to the top team, 3-1 to the team in second, 1-4 to the team in third and 1-2 to the team in sixth. It would require an unlikely degree of improvement. |
