Hope you all had a cracking Christmas day. Turkey been eaten? Had a few drinks? Watched the Bond movie? Yes? Good, let's get back to business!!!
After a less than promising start to the Christmas fixture list, Brian Flynn takes his Swans side to the English Riviera on Boxing Day for a match against fellow promotion candidates Torquay United. The seasonal clash should see the return of winger Brad Maylett to the starting line-up, as well as the possible return of Leon Britton after he missed last weeks defeat at Doncaster due to injury. Kevin Nugent is expected to recover from a toe infection to partner James Thomas up front, otherwise Karl Connolly will take his place. Flynn's only other major selection headache is whether to start with Alan Tate or Kris O'Leary in the centre of defence. Tate, who returns to Old Trafford after Sunday's clash with Yeovil, fears he may be dropped from the starting line-up after some poor recent performances, and the fact that Leon Hylton is once again in contention for a place in the Swans back four, will certainly give Flynn food for thought.
Torquay manager Leroy Rosenior is expected to keep the same team that suffered a surprise defeat at Carlisle last weekend. The only change maybe the possible return of striker Martin Gritton, who's been absent for three months with a troublesome groin injury.
Torquay has always been a favourite away destination with the Swansea faithful, and Friday's match will be no exception. With over 1100 tickets already sold and a further 300 available on the day, the Jackarmy will be in fine voice. Let's hope we return from the South Coast with a late Christmas present.
P.S. While you all recover from your Christmas Day excesses, spare a thought for poor old me sat in front of the PC bringing you another memorable match preview. I'm sure many of you would like to show your appreciation when you see me at Plainmoor on Friday afternoon. Any Stella Artois type "donations" will be gratefully accepted!!! ;o)
