![]() Monday, 8th Jul 2013 08:11 Ross McCormack insists he does not want to be the next Elland Road "fall-guy", with Brian McDermott close to adding to his summer shopping list, there are rumours McCormack might be the next one out. Arguably McCormack is our most sellable asset, behind Sam Byram of course and following Saturday's 5-0 stroll in the sun at Farsley, Rosco put his own words to speculation linking him with Blackpool and now QPR. McCormack said: “We’ve signed a couple of players and I think everyone knows that a few players are going to have to go out to balance the squad and probably balance the books as well. “At the minute there’s a lot of speculation about me but I don’t want to go. The manager knows that, my agent knows that so it’s all pretty clear. If anything, maybe something could happen with my contract.” I think you would struggle to find a more committed player to the Leeds United cause and McCormack is a popular player amongst the fans. Although injury and being forced to toil out of position restricted his strike-rate last season there is no doubt, given the service, he is a proven Championship striker who will get more of his fair share next season. Having pulled off a PR coup last week in the wake of Steve Morison's departure by signing Luke Murphy and Noel Hunt, the Elland Road spin doctors would have their work cut out if McCormack was to leave and personally I'd settle for nothing less than an Adam Le Fondre or someone of that calibre who hopefully is the "long-term target" Brian McDermott has talked about of late. Meanwhile a rumour on twitter (I know) hints that Dundee United's exciting young winger Gary Mackay-Steven is on McDermott's radar and despite a few glitches, the signing should go through by next weekend. McDermott also intends to add a new signing in time for our Slovenian tour. Photo: Action Images via Reuters Please report offensive, libellous or inappropriate posts by using the links provided.
