James Ward Prowse Out Till Xmas
Wednesday, 24th Sep 2014 09:40

James Ward Prowse is expected to have put up his Christmas Tree before he plays again after suffering a stress fracture to his foot at Swansea.

It's a big blow for not only Ward Prowse himself but Saints, although it is an area of the field that we are blessed with a number of good options.

The injury is expected to keep the 19 year old out for around 10 weeks meaning it will be almost Xmas before he plays again, it had been a good season so far for Ward Prowse who in Saints opening 5 Premier League games had started in 4 and come on as sub in the other one as he enjoyed his best spell since breaking into the side a couple of years ago.

But he will be back and he knows that under Ronald Koeman he will get his chance again but obviously it will give others a chance to cement their places in the managers thinking, the thing that has impressed me so far about the way the Koeman operates is that he keeps things fresh and people on their toe's, everyone knows that unlike last season, no one is guaranteed a place.

Really bad luck for the lad, but as pointed out, midfield is an area we are well resourced in. Also, JWP, though gifted with dead ball delivery skills and a tidy passing game, strikes me as a little over hyped and not really delivering at this level.

Harsh on him given that he has played in all our games so far in a team that has been playing well, if we had been carrying passengers it would have shown

The hope for saints is that we shall not miss him as we have good back up players. However what a shame for a young man who has played his part in the advance of saints in previous seasons and been a solid starter this season. I hope that after his rest and recuperation he will come back refreshed and raring to go.
