This is where emotion has taken over, can we really judge a player till he has left the club on a permanent basis.
Damian Downs is number 1 in the list, 1 start in the League for Saints plus 10 appearances as a sub and 1 assist to his name.
Paul Moody is number 2 in the list 6 starts for Saints and 6 appearances as sub.
Sekou Mara didn't seem to find his position at the club, but he was rarely played at Centre Forward, most games he played in seemed to have Che Adams in that position and he would play out wide.
Craig Maskell was not a centre forward, he was an inside forward/striker and belongs in the previous thread, when he returned to the club in 1994 and scored against Liverpool on his debut he wore the number 8 shirt and Iain Dowie was the centre forward at number 9.
Stig Johanssen was likewise an inside forward, we had two genuine centre forward at the club at that time in Egil Ostenstad and Kevin Davies, Johansen had just 4 starts plus 4 as sub.
Sorry Pat 3/10 must try harder on this one, was Ben Brereton Diaz better for Saints than Downs ? |

I went to watch a Sunday one day game at Bournemouth in 1990 I think and we were stood in front of the pavilion at the top of the steps where the players walked to and from the dressing room.
Malcolm Marshall was batting and if i remember could swing a bat in these one day games.
Anyway he did so and the ball flew into the gloves of the wicket keeper who appealed and the umpire gave him out caught behind.
It didn't look out and you could see Marshall was quite agitated as he walked back to the pavilion, hitting the ground with his bat.
As he walked up the steps I said to him "Well played Malcolm a little unlucky" he turned round and said in a quite a loud Barbadian voice "I never F**king hit it man"
They were good days back then, take your own beer into the ground and sit back, under trees etc, now a lot of grounds including ours are soulless bowls, that overcharge for beer and food as you can't bring your own in anymore.
I went a few times to the Rose Bowl as it was called then but unless you drive it is difficult to get to and if you use the limited public transport it would take about 1 1/2 - 2 hours just to get back home.
I think the last game I went to there was about 2014, I used to love cricket both watching and playing, but i barely watch it now and have no real interest in it anymore |

Who is the worst Centre Forward that has played for Saints
1. Keep emotion out of it, Gavin Bazunu is far from the worst keeper that we have had and believe it or not Damion Downs is not the worst centre forward.
2. They have had to have played for the first team more than just a couple of games in an emergency, genuine first team contenders only.

Parsons has actually said that we haven't sounded out any other managers, he has stated that he and the owners are backing Tonda.
He is not being confrontational towards the panel,
"We will decide that when we get to it. You hear rumours of what people think and what could happen, but we're hoping [the panel] look at it sensibly.
"We don't want to be seen as a victim of this. We need to get on. We've had our cards dealt. It will be really tough to take if we get another punishment.
"On top of being thrown out of the play-offs, we've had four points this season, so we're hoping the panel are looking at this with a balanced view.
"It's already been really heavy. Tonda's a young manager. He's made a mistake, and he's paid for that dearly. This has been really tough for him.
"I admire how strong he's been through this process because a lot of people could have cracked under the amount of pressure he was under.
"I also think that without him and his team, we wouldn't have been in the play-off position. I think that deserves a bit of loyalty.
Thats not begging for mercy, it is just trying set the narrative , nowhere does it say that we wouldn't appeal any decision, it is not antagonising the FA panel before a verdict is reached |

How is there any indication, no one knows what is happening with the FA it is all pure speculation, we all should reserve our judgment till we know the outcome and what the club have been doing |

Fair appraisal of the album, their first since 2014, it has some strong tracks, but overall I see this as a Ian McCulloch solo album rather than a Bunnymen album. |

1. You have to plan things in advance Pat, check the South Western rail site for rail works to London and also assume that the trains from London are going to be chaos, thats why I rarely go up north of Birmingham up there and back on the day.
I enjoyed around 2 hours in a couple of pubs by Chester Station, another hour or so in a delightful pub the other side of the ground from the town centre beforehand, then another couple of hours in the Old Fat Boar after the game
2. There are 3 versions of Wrexham Lager, the 4% version is as you say Shite, the Wrexham Pilsener at 4.6% is much better and there is also the Wrexham Export at 5%, the Old Fat Boar pub had all three on tap.
3. The Blue kit is awful
4.Fellows should have come on for Scienza at half time or perhaps either Dobbin, rather than Edozie
5. I don't know, the moment the final whistle went I was off up the pub. |

Funnily enough I went to that Wings gig in 1975, I was still at school but a mate of mine was a big Beatles fan and got two tickets in the ballot, I hummed and harred about going as Saints were playing Bristol Rovers in the League cup that night.
I wasn't a big Beatles fan, the early 70's were a bit of a down period for their reputation, the average person in their teens saw them as 1960's and not "IN"
But I quite likes the Band on the run album, so i went to the gig.
Wings hadn't played live for a few years at this point I remember and the Southampton gig was the first night of their World Tour so the press were all over it, what would he play etc.
There were no protests of any note if any to be honest, it was 3 years since the single had been released ( The other side of it was a musical version of the nursery rhyme Mary had a little lamb.
All the media frenzy had long since died down and the truth was this was just about the only political song that McCartney had written (Or would write ) so it had been long forgotten.
The gig was a little strange, Wings were surprisingly good, but everyone sat down for 90% of the gig, every other gig I had been to at the Gaumont saw everyone stand up down the front etc, it only livened up at the end when people stood up and went to the front when he played a few rockier numbers.
Most of the audience were in their late 20's and 30's.
It was lost on me at the time just how big a deal this gig was, the average 14 year old saw the Beatles as past it, their solo songs did not sell brilliantly, wikipedia said that the Ireland single reached number 16.
As context the only John Lennon solo single to go to number 1 until his death was Imagine, after Band on the run, McCartney & Wings sold a lot of records.
A the bus station after the gig I found out that Saints lost 1-0 |

Not the greatest goalkeeper to play for Saints, just 7 games in the Championship at the tail end of 2006/07, very sad to hear he has died at the age of 57.
The very model of a journeyman footballer he played 638 league games for 9 different clubs and 739 games when you add cup games. |

I wasnt that bothered about them till they got the Hollywood owners who bankrolled them up the leagues, I will feel sorry for them when the money goes and they drop down the league again |
