I'd avoid central London like the plague for watching football especially on a Friday. It's too busy with tourists and you need to remortgage your house and cash in your pension plan to drink there.

If your feeling brave though and don't mind spending, the Carlsberg bar in Leicester Square has loads of screens. It's in the casino place, can't miss it.

3 best choices will be the Crown and Sceptre, The White Horse in the Bush or in Hammersmith the Egerton. I'm going for the Egerton.

I'm biased, but my mate's bar just off Great Portland Street tube is great and will definitely be showing it.

http://www.jetlagbar.com/

It gets pretty busy, so if you are heading down best to reserve seats though.

18StoneofHoop wrote this handy guide last night:

As a greedy guzzling, bibulous dipsomaniac, awful thirsty,long-time W12 resident, here are my Top 7 Pubs to watch the First leg inThe Bush:

1) White Horse,Ux Rd - as favoured by Hayesender,will be rammed,guaranteed.
2) The Egerton,Paddenswick Road - lots of framed QPR memorabilia, Innocent Victor Stevenson 's local
3) British Queen,Ux Rd - good if you're hard, the back bar is hoops hooly central
4) Shepherd and Flock,Goldhawk Rd - small is beautiful, cheap too
5) Crown and Sceptre,Melina Rd - bit too modish and LFW elite cliquey for me ;-)
6) The Coningham,Ux Rd - better since change of management & refit - cleaner khazis!
7) O'Donoghues (formerlyThe Swakely ) Goldhawk Rd - large pub,big screen QPR LSA connections.

Outside the Bush I'd strongly recommend The Pavilion, on the corner of Wood Lane and North Pole Road or The Corrib Rest,Salisbury Road,Queens Park which is cavernous, quick service, big screen and great atmosphere.
All pubs mentioned will have Rangers fans present and a decent atmosphere.

I'm stuck! Taking a girl out for drinks. It's the only day we could both
do for a few weeks. We've had to cancel twice already.
Where do I go? I've got to at least pretend to be interested but
clearly need a boozer with the footy on!
She's from saaaf off the river as well so no way will she come out west.
Any suggestions will be greatly received!

Pull a sickie.

You cant possibly give her the attention she deserves.

You have to get out of it. It would do more harm than good not to.

And if she understands she might be 'the one'.

Might just tell her to meet me at quarter to 10!
Hopefully we don't get tonked or she won't be having a good night
with me!

On the other hand a good result (draw upwards) and she could have the night of her life.

Go with the late start then.

No teles in The Pav?
WTF?!
Haven't been that way for over a year I s'pose since my old man who lived in Wallingford Avenue moved to a care home.
First The North Pole turned into yet another bleeding Tesco's and now this..

Done some research and it's the all-too-common-nowadays depressing story of yet another pub being sold to ambitious new countish owners as it tries to go upmarket and ruthlessly gets rid of all the old locals...

Read these damning down-in-the-dumps sorrowful brief summaries from local residents on pub review sites:

1)The Pavilion used to be a community pub used by a variety of socio-economic groups in the area. It was a Sports bar - especially popular with Queens Park Rangers supporters due to the locality. However, there was always good-natured banter with supporters of other clubs, namely Spurs and Arsenal.... Read more The current management has ruined the atmosphere and made a point of removing the table where the regulars used to sit thus making them feel unwelcome. They say they are only now showing tennis and rugby on the television which suggests snobbishness; at the same time they wouldn't even show the cricket!

The food is a disgrace. Hard peas, nasty chips and the portions have been cut thus making it economically unviable for old people to get a meal. If the management think they are going to attract media types of "yuppies", I think they have made a big mistake.
I believe if things do not change the pub will close and there will not be a pub left in the area.

29/05/2013 Beware entering this pub if you are Irish and/or working class. It would appear that these kind of people are now being targeted to get rid of them. The atmosphere in here now is all doom and gloom people are afraid to raise their voices in case they are on the unwanted list and will be asked to leave the premises. It used to be a warm friendly pub but no more. RIP Pavilion I suspect it will not be long till it's your Sainsbury's Local.

Been drinking in this pub on & off over the years. its never been a great pub, but it served its purpose ok. the only reason this pub is still open is because of the loyalty of the locals who drink in there most nights of the week. Friday is the only night it was busy due to the teachers across the road & the bbc staff. Well the bbc is gone now and a new manageress has turned up with very grand ideas, ie getting rid of all the old locals because they are not becoming of her grand ideas. some of the old boys were having a bit of a singsong last sunday night and she wasn't having that so she called the police & had one of them arrested for singing too loudly.
this pub is in w12 shepherds bush not really known for her middle class dreams. it looks like there will be a mass exodus. What is she going to do for her bread and butter now?

I haven't been here for a very long time & the reviews have not been kind over the years, but it turns out the recent reviews have got it right. In my absence it's had a complete revamp & overhaul both of staff, food, drinks & general ambience. It's definitely had a complete refurbishment in the last 12 months so it looks really fantastic now. Feels very relaxed & friendly, really nice decor (very open & bright), no pool tables, no karaoke/DJs, less TVs, great food (really broad menu of traditional pub food). It doesn't feel like an old man's pub or even a QPR pub anymore... now it seems to be attracting a really nice mixed crowd of people - and most important for me, it's somewhere I can go for a few drinks with the girls after work or where I can go for a romantic meal on a Friday night with my boyfriend.
( 18Stone adds 8th May 2014: An obviously bogus review...must have been written by the new owner, whats her name? Cruella Deville? - social engineering snob stuck-up bitch..fook her and the horse she came in on.)

One by one the traditional pub lights are going out all over London and across the land.
