The standard is poor. I would happily see them paid more, 70k ish a year for a ref is not alot, all the scrutiny etc, but a far higher standard is needed.

The shame of it is that the refs earlier mistakes will be irrelevant in deciding an appeal.
The video will be examined and it is clear that WR kicks out at a prone opponent,and thats a red card offence.
Sterling was not charged as it was not deemed 'extreme circumstance' if WR was extreme then I will have nothing more to say other than bent and corrupt. When the London and national press support what we say you know it was a wrong decision

All I can say is there is a difference between what happens in the course of normal play and something that is deliberate and takes place when the ball is dead.
WR is badly fouled twice then shows his frustration by kicking his opponent when the ball is dead.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the FA take that stance to be fair.
It's a load of horse shit. You see leg breaking tackles go virtually unpunished (not just Henry's today) as well as blatant cheating and reacting in any way towards your opponent like Routledge did is seen as some horrific crime. Footballs got it all wrong

In about the fifth minute Siggy turned one of their players on the edge of the box who then rugby tackled him before he could run into the area and get a cross away, you couldn't get a more blatant yellow card but because it's in the first ten minutes it gets ignored. Second half he had the book out straight away.

Just watched it again. For starters, Henry nearly took Routs head off with a dangerous high boot. Less than 5 seconds later, he could have broke Routs leg. Very lucky to get a yellow.

So, if the referee was correct in the Sterling case and just touching a player isn't enough for a red card, then Routledge has a case.

The sending off came so late that it wouldn't have changed a draw to a win. Green's probably would have.
The ref did everything in his power to ensure we didn't get anything from the game.
People say it's our fault for not appealing. Well watch Stoke players against Man United. Where did that get them?
There was no kick out at all. And anyway, it's fine to retaliate, they've set that precedent with Sterling.

The ref got it right according to what the lino told him. The truth is it warranted a word from the ref to say 'Calm down and be careful from now on'. That's it.
The lino's were incompetent yesterday. Both of them.
