Now that siggy is suspended... on 09:23 - Jan 25 with 2816 views | Jackfath | Shelvey.

Now that siggy is suspended... on 09:24 - Jan 25 with 2808 views | monmouth | Shelvey and Oliveira. Gomis on the bench. Suck on that, mouthy frogger. Nah. Shelvey. Gomis given a chance to win everyone over and Nelson on the bench.

Now that siggy is suspended... on 09:54 - Jan 25 with 2706 views | Zut_Alors | I would go with Shelvey as AM, with Leon (if fit) and Tom C in the centre. Southampton still have a few injury concerns, so there midfield is not as strong as it normally is.
Now that siggy is suspended... on 09:57 - Jan 25 with 2695 views | Darran | I wouldn't mind Williams as DM.

Now that siggy is suspended... on 10:00 - Jan 25 with 2684 views | Whiterockin | Gomis could be gone by Sunday as we will be at the end of the window. Unless someone comes in it will be Nelson up front anyway.

Nelson is not the answer Gomis will be with us after next week but if he goes I think someone will be brought in, my worry is defensive midfield Britton is injured more than he is fit these days and we need someone in this position.

Yes I know. But monk has been playing Nelson as a number 10.
Now that siggy is suspended... on 10:51 - Jan 25 with 2577 views | michumagic9 | I would like to see Shelvey play as the number ten btw. And Ki may be back for the game, so he may be considered starting at centre mid with either Carroll or Brittom.
Now that siggy is suspended... on 10:53 - Jan 25 with 2565 views | TenkosBlondeWig | Shelvey's best performances have come in the attacking midfield role where he has less responsibility tracking back. To be honest that is the only position he should play in Gomis up front as one last try to get something out of him

He may not be "the answer" but he showed up Gomis yesterday.

Now that siggy is suspended... on 11:20 - Jan 25 with 2490 views | Joe_bradshaw | JJS at Southampton. Someone else against Sunderland and West Brom after Shelvey's red card at St Mary's. More seriously, from the middle of February:- Fab Naughton, Fernandez, Ash, Taylor Ki, One from Leon, Carroll, Shelvey (depending on the opposition) Gylfi Two from Barrow, Dyer, Routledge, Montero, Emnes Gomis Don't tell me we can't get a decent number of points in the remainder of the season. Can't argue with that. But for now with Routledge and siggy out, I would go with something like this... Fab Naughton Fernandez Williams Taylor Ki Britton Shelvey Dyer Gomis Montero

At the moment Montero is the only winger deserving a starting spot We always struggle when our wide men are off form and they have been for some time (Dyer/Routledge)

He has played him there once against Chelsea and I'd be hugely disappointed if he made that mistake again. Oliveira came on for Gomis yesterday so up front, not as a #10. I'd play Shelvey behind Gomis at Southampton but, unless Britton is fit, that leaves us a bit short in DM / CM territory. If Britton doesn't make it, I think we might see Marvin in the #10 role.

FabianskiNaughtonTaylorAshFernandezBrittonCarrollJonjoEmnesMonteroGomis That's an untested right-hand side, but the tried and tested combos are pretty woeful at the moment, so I'd go with it... Hope Britton is fit in time. If not, I'd consider Fulton, just to keep our shape so the players have a vague idea what they're doing out there.

Now that siggy is suspended... on 12:26 - Jan 25 with 2320 views | Swan91 | I actually want Emnes as AM everytime he plays as AM he links well with the striker. Plus he's always hard working and always runs back to help get the ball back.
Now that siggy is suspended... on 12:51 - Jan 25 with 2261 views | Neath_Jack | Oliviera? More square pegs in round holes. It's time to start playing players in their correct positions, and if those players are unavailable, then change the formation/tactics. We are low enough on confidence as it is, without playing rookie players out of position in the most competitive league in the world.

Agree. It should be JJS as AM with Carroll and Leon or Fulton depending on Leon's fitness. The fact that we are talking about other possibilities shows that we are getting twitchy. Unless something happens quickly Gomis and Nelson are our strikers, only one of whom should start. emnes should be an option off the bench for AM/second striker not a starting AM or striker or could start out wide. We cannot afford another Chelsea debacle formation wise. Yesterday's formation failure was caused by Bartley and Garry made the wrong call in substituting Carroll. It will be interesting to see how gomis plays next week. He was shite yesterday as were many others but had no support as the wingers were pushed back and central midfield overrun.
Now that siggy is suspended... on 13:40 - Jan 25 with 2176 views | jack247 | I'd actually be satisfied with a good performance alone in that game. We need our team spirit and desire back first and foremost. Formations and tactics get you nowhere when players are well below par and don't seem bothered about it.
Now that siggy is suspended... on 13:58 - Jan 25 with 2140 views | A_Fans_Dad | Garry might think Gomis is good enough, but to me his laid back style does not suit the Prem. Perhaps he scores shed's full of goals in training?
