Couldn’t agree with this more. My all encompassing pet peeves at games are People who can’t navigate a very basic numbers and letters system to find their seat People who don’t understand games start at 3.00 and half time lasts 15 minutes People who get up two or three times a half because they’ve out drunk their bladder I don’t really want to add people going back and fore for pints Sitting there with a beer for 45 minutes is fine and I’d do that myself. It would get spoiled by the people who go for a day out rather than the game, as you say, just like the rugby |

That’s no different to what we have now? |

I’m not saying they won’t start games, I’m saying they won’t start and finish them. We need to get to the stage where our substitutions don’t weaken us. Birminghams didn’t weaken them yesterday and that’s been a recurring theme, putting us on the ropes late in games plenty of times this season. Someone to come on and do Vipotniks job was the obvious one yesterday. Midfield wise, I don’t think we’re too far from getting it right. |

In the first half while we were dominating, I thought it would be the perfect game for him. But you’d probably have to leave Widdell out and on current form, that’s not an option. We need to get to the stage where substitutions are interchangeable and don’t weaken us. I don’t actually think we’re too far off it. We need someone to share the load up front though. |

The improvement in Widell since August is astounding. I agree, he’s very much on an upward trajectory. People complained a lot about not signing a Lewis O’Brien type in the summer. We saw bits of that from both Widdell and Franco yesterday. Tussling to nick balls off opponents, winning the battle then immediately driving into gaps themselves or looking to play our wingers in. Much easier to attack a defence when they don’t have time to set |

I rate Cullen a lot higher than most on here, but not up front on his own. Once he comes on as a centre forward, nothing is going to stick, meaning we won’t be able to get players up and around him and force opponents back. The consequence of that is exactly what you describe. Sitting deeper, opponents getting their tails up, losing control of the game and eventually being happy with a point when we’d dominated for an hour. This is going to keep happening until… We bring in a loan striker Idah recovers Matos trusts Wales up front and Wales justifies it. I’m not sure Wales could do that role either. He’s taller than Cullen, but doesn’t seem physically equipped to battle with centre backs. Leaving Vipotnik on for 90 minutes every game isn’t going to work either. It will burn him out. |

Not sure why we didn’t see Stamenic today. With all our midfielders fit and Idah coming on for Vipotnik, we could keep that intensity up for a game. Especially if Key could get back to form and release Galbraith to play in the middle. As it stands, we’re going to drop a notch or two and struggle to hold the ball up when the substitutions happen |

Again, Vipotnik came off because he ran himself into the ground. With Idah out for a while, we need to loan a striker who can play the physical role. Cullen can press well enough, but he’s never going to compete physically with centre backs. His role should be coming on for Widdell for 20/25 minutes, playing behind a physical striker, not competing for long balls. |

It’s not taking the foot off the gas, it’s burning out. Widdell and Franco are being asked to play high intensity pressing game. The amount of times they turned Birmingham over in decent positions was phenomenal. I don’t think we’ll get 90 minutes out of either of them very often, at least not a that intensity. That role is so demanding. The trick is winning the game before that point. We created enough chances |
 | Forum Reply | Bobby Wales out on loan at 09:02 17 Jan 2026
It makes perfect sense seeing as Matos doesn’t seem to see him as Championship ready (Sheehan didn’t either). Bring in someone who is and allow Bobby Wales to get games in League one, while taking a bit of pressure off Vipotnik. May seen weird, but it was noticeable to me he didn’t want to take a penalty last weekend. I’d always expect a striker to be in the first five, especially given the players we had on pitch. That’s not the sign of a confident player and missing in sudden death would have helped him. Don’t get me wrong, we’d still be light up front, but I’d be all up for swapping him out for someone Matos picks. |

The reality on attendances is we can sell out for Wrexham on Black Friday. A night a lot of businesses close for a week or so (meaning staff go out) during the most expensive time of the year. If that game was 5.30 this Saturday, I’m sure we would be there or thereabouts. We do have a loyal hardcore, but it’s just not that big. Only sustained success will change that. |

I do agree with this, though I don’t think January is the time to effectively give up on the playoffs. Have to say I’m getting a bit fed up of ‘consolidation’ seasons. Given the end to last season and the activity in the summer, I thought this one may be different |

This was exactly my point. It’s why Labour have controlled Wales for so long. People just vote for them regardless of how badly they’ve done. A lot of those people now know they can’t win and will vote tactically next time without even checking how mental some of Plaids intentions are. Sane could be said of people voting Tory in the last GE, just because they always have done. |

I find it fascinating how some people support political parties like they are football teams. If you’ve voted for the same party for forty years, are you at least trying to inform yourself of which party would be best for you/Wales/the UK? |
 | Forum Reply | Swansea City : Just how many chances do you need ! at 06:09 12 Jan 2026
Couldn’t agree more! When Matos got here, the general consensus was he would need a bit of time to put his stamp on the team. He’s tightened us up at the back. He’s now got us to the stage where we’re creating chances. We had plenty yesterday and both the goals came from decent moves. Being more clinical will hopefully be the next step. The finishing was off, but I thought we generally played well and the game was entertaining. |

Don’t get me wrong. Nothing wrong with Dick Bartons chips at all. It’s also a kind of Swansea institution, which I like. I just prefer Copperfish. It’s more of a gourmet chip shop than a traditional one. More of a treat than a regular. |

Anyone tried Smirkin’ Cod? Always fancy it on the way back from games. I agree Hiks is very good. Re. Dick Bartons - if you’re down that way, Copperfish on the pier is better |
