This is a theme. When we’re under the cosh, which we are quite often against teams like Milwall and Lincoln, we don’t really concede big chances. On the odd occasion we do, Vigaroux steps right up or our defenders throw themselves in the way. It was Lissah and Stewart last night, Cabango has done it a few times this season.

Of the three yes, and I’d probably add Stamenic to that. We just don’t have anyone to step in for Eustacquio and play the same way.
Fulton and Franco can both play the deep role if you want them to shield the centre backs and break up attacks. Franco is more dynamic, Fulton is much more positionally disciplined, both can do that well. You wouldn’t want either playing the ‘quarterback’ role that is key to how Matos wants us to play. |

This is the under rated side of our game that the TikTok experts never seem to mention.
We’re not always on top, but when we aren’t, we’re conceding possession and territory, but rarely conceding big chances. We control those periods very well. |

Re. selection and rotation, I did think we missed Eustacquio in terms of fluency. Fulton had a very good game playing to his strengths and he certainly snuffed out Norwich attacks.
I prefer him further forward though, he’s not the player to take it from centre backs in tight spaces and move it quickly through midfield. I don’t really know what the answer is there without Eustacquio because neither Franco nor Stamenic are suited to it.
As an aside, I know we had players returning from the other side of the world, but I’m not sure I like Fulton, Franco and Widell as a starting midfield, I rate them all, but are all fairly similar. |

I don’t think those 10 minute spells are sustainable over 90, just because they are so intense. We are going to need to do that for short spells, then manage the game for a bit before going again.
I do agree though, someone is taking a hammering soon. We are pretty good at limiting the opposition when we aren’t going full tilt. If we could get three or four spells like that in each game, we would blow teams away. |

We were a little bit off our rythm, as I’m sure Norwich were. Disagree with those saying they were the better team in the first half, we weren’t quite clicking, but I thought they offered very little until the goal, which was a sloppy mistake more than them creating anything.
Massive cliche, but picking up points when you aren’t at your best is a sign of a great team |

I’ve no doubt he’ll be a top player. His composure in tight situations is ridiculous. It’s like having a #10 a right back at times.
The only thing I’m questioning is knowing when to take a risk and when to play a simple pass or even clearance. It’s minor and something I’m sure will be ironed out. |

Absolutely. We’ve had a good starting eleven for a number of years. We haven’t had anything like the quality on the bench or in some cases, not even in the squad.
The amount of games we’ve been the better team for 60/70 minutes then got turned over when opponents brought players on who improved their teams and we couldn’t match it. |

Yes he does.
Conversely, if he wasn’t so good, he probably wouldn’t overplay. It’s not much of a problem, he just needs to know when to play a simple ball instead of turning his man then playing the exact same pass |

Word of caution on Lissah - and this is in no way a knock. I think he’s already easily the best academy graduate since we were Premier League and Category A and I’d gladly start him in any game at centre back or right back.
He’s got so much ability and confidence, that he tends to overplay when a simple ball is less risky and just as effective. He usually gets away with it because he’s so composed and is usually a better player than the man he’s up against, but he does get caught unnecessarily. Got turned over a couple of times today and it’s happened before. Better teams will exploit it.
I’d play him every week, but he needs to tighten up his decision making when there’s no reason to beat a man or play a flashy pass. |

You don’t have to travel very far for evidence of a club that built a stadium too big for their fanbase and is now regularly a third empty in the championship.
I would think we’d need to establish ourselves in the PL before expansion became a realistic option. We missed our chance under the previous owners. |

Our only managers to have lost more than they won since the PL are Duff and Luke Williams. Martin had 36 of each.
This is a little bit like when you kept insisting Levein and Kaplan were good owners. |

Blunt and dour is just fine, but you’ve got to back it up.
His football made Wrexham look like prime Ajax, we lost every week and he still managed to be smug about it. I’m not sure if it was arrogance or delusion. |

He had this odd combination of arrogance and incompetence. Genuinely seemed to believe he was far more capable than he was.
Our worst start to a season for over 100 years while playing aesthetically diabolical football didn’t help him either. |

One of the very few ex players I hope makes as little of his career as possible. Doesn’t look like I have to worry about Obafemi.
Happily, Walta doesn’t seem to be that way inclined. If it’s purely a football decision, I agree with those who say it seems a strange one. |

Nah, both those players came here with form and carried that form on to their subsequent clubs. Whittaker is probably PL level talent wise and he’s in the MLS. Obafemi was physically fat last time I saw him actually play. Both are mid twenties and should be in the prime of their careers. Bad apples are bad apples.
But, if Keith is saying Walta is nothing like that, it’s good enough for me.
Football wise, I don’t think our heavy pressing system, three up front system can accommodate a flair player who doesn’t do a lot defensively or off the ball, but I do agree with you we at least need that type of player in the squad when we’re trying to unlock teams like Wrexham and Sheffield United. We’ll undoubtedly face plenty of sides who just look to shut games down.
Matos said something along the lines of ‘we signed Leo to play for Swansea, not to play every minute’. I agree with that but we need that type of player in the squad. |

Quite possibly.
On the other hand, and I’m playing devils advocate, not for a minute saying it’s the case, if he’s another Whittaker/Obafemi type then getting him out on loan makes a lot of sense. |
