Harry Redknapp/ John Hartson Position 08:59 - Dec 31 with 5485 viewsleobhoy

Contact was made with the Club immediately following the Boxing Day defeat. Discussions have taken place throughout the course of the week. They are available and more importantly extremely keen on taking up the post. HR brings 30 plus years experience in Management and a portfolio of player contacts which is second to none. JH currently resides a few miles from the Stadium is an avid Swansea supporter , has coaching experience with the National team and has secured his coaching badges. In short they are in many ways a perfect combination for the desperate plight the Club finds itself in.
Additionally ( and as importantly given the needless expense which has been frittered away on termination payments for outgoing personnel) they are prepared to take what is effectively a five month contract with what is a standard basic in Premiership terms but of course with a substantial bonus payment payable only if the Club maintains Premiership status. No
buy out clauses from their current employers( their media commitments have been agreed in principle to be suspended for the period) and no question of having to pay also for the entourage that usually comes with a new appointment. They will utilise the coaching staff that is currently engaged. They have already sounded out a number of players whom they have identified as being the type who will assist. They are confident they can turn it around , it is by no means a hopeless situation. They of course in their current capacity in the media know every single player on the Swans first team playing staff, know how the opposition will set themselves up ,their strengths and weaknesses. Finally and critically HR has that one attribute no other potential candidate possesses...................EXPERIENCE

F*ck Redknapp.

A deeply average manager with a reputation built way beyond ability by a slavishly friendly media (much like Neil Taylor, it's amazing how supportive journos can be if you're always available for a quote). I'd rather go down than have him associated with the club in any way.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

Considering the directors straights that we find ourselves in through gross negligence on the behalf of Jenkins I think this is the best short term fix. Love him or loath him Harry is very well connected and John is passionate and no doubt will relish the opportunity to learn from Harry. It's a yes from me in the short term.... It can all be reassessed in the Summer

What a terrible idea!!!
We sign up a media darling dream team to fly in to the rescue. They sign up a bunch of their aging mates on short term contracts in the hope of a final Hurrah!
What happens next season?
We stay up, have blown a fortune on survival payments to these guys and their mercenary mates and then have to sign a new team and management.
Or we go down a laughing stock and have nothing prepared for the next season. We have to build everything over a few months.

It sounds a lot like it could turn into a fly on the wall, behind the scenes documentary for the BBC.

Yep, could be worse though. We could get Terry Venables and Gazza!
Harry's not the answer for me, but then neither is one of Clement / Rowett - not at this time anyway. It's a very tough call and we're in a bit of a pickle thanks to our clueless new owners.

I have warmed to Paul Clement especially if we are looking at the bigger picture whatever division we are in, Is record with Derby is not to be sniffed at.

Harry Rednapp has been out of the game for a couple of years and whatever sport your in it's not easy jumping back on the bike after spell out of sport.

Even when you know, you never know?

Thank God for that. I've been alarmed by the amount of support this relegation specialist is getting. It would be a dark day in the history of Swansea City if Derrick Trotter were to sit in the home dug out.

Aye, but perhaps he could borrow Guidolin's bike.

We shouldn't all be tarred with the same brush you know!

A famous name and a bonus Jack. Obviously the idea is well supported.

It's very worrying if people can't see beyond what you've just mentioned though, don't you think?

Not sure about 'Arry, but staying up would be everything. Bizarre to think that survival next season would be the problem - stay up and the way ahead is a lot clearer than if we go down.

I think redknapp as temp manager is fine, as long as he could bring in what he wanted, if he can't and must coach the existing squad then maybe we are better off with clement .

To me clement looks a better long term fix, though he seems a touch Uninspiring and bland, I'm sure that's not the case with his coaching but to inspire a dramatic turnaround is going to take something special.

IMO Bob has basically relegated us, people may talk about the stupid decision to hire him and rightly so but there is enough gas in this squad to not get hammered by 3/4 goals every week ! The clown has pretty much killed us I think .

Harston being tagged with Arry turns me off a bit truth be told, the guyhasdone next to nothing really in terms of coaching and if anything we need coaches at the sharp end not the paint by numbers end .

Clement has ability and longer term a better bet, a fully backed redknapp may pull off a surprise, though his record suggests not.

I just have no fookin clue about anything since the summer though, one disaster after another for getting on for 2 yrs make me wonder why this appointment will be any different.
