I appreciate the attempts last season of certain groups trying to start some chants and protests, and I'm not jumping the gun and being negative here, but since Huw said he'd step down if we were relegated and he's still here is abit of joke, he's hired Potter and hasn't given him any backing in the market as of yet and is clearly calling the shots still. When are we all actually going to get Jenkins out because I don't think we can 'rebuild' with him still here, how many fans are actually going to forgive him for the sh!te he's caused the last few years? With Andre Ayew leaving on loan is a prime example of how Huw has run the club the past few years, big money signings on big wages leaving for next to nothing. Yes we all appreciate what he and others did for the club all them years ago, but we've moved on since that and we're talking about now & the future which he has shat on.
Eder, Tabanou, Borja, Ayew, Bony, Clucas, Ngog, Mesa to name a few of his signings that have all cost a club of our size a fortune,not to mention the questionable decisions he's made e.g not bringing Allen back when he had the chance, handing out long contracts to squad players who weren't playing in the first team. He stated we'd learn from mistakes which they clearly havent it's the same old story every time, we start the season in 7 days and we have signed 1 player officially for the '1st team' and if we start off bad Potter is going to get the blame for this whilst Huw is tucked up in his directors box getting away with all the sh!t. |  |

Nope. Costs spiralling is a theme seen at every single football club that is promoted if they manage to survive. The longer they stay the more their outgoings become, until they can no longer function and get relegated - which is why all clubs our size do. Every single one. |
Yes costs do spiral...but so did the premier league money...massively, yet you need to manage that situation, along with the huge money we made on transfers..Siggy..lorente, to name but 2 then buying overpriced players from relegated sides...giving fringe players new 4 year contracts, and bringing in ex-players who have were clearly seen to be struggling the previous season is a shocking management of the funds we had available for a club our size, and that lies squarelyat Jenkins door... yes he did do a good job as chairman up until maybe 3 years ago, but as the cliche says...your only as good as your last game....or season in his case. Those were provisions. We had capital tied up in players. This allowed us the best possible chance of staying at that level at the same time, which is why we got ourselves into a position where for a while it looked like we would survive where as WBA took the approach of throwing in the towel and oreoared for relegation earlier - their performances mirrored that too, they looked doomed long before us.
Seeing a relegation coming and being able to do something about it are wildly differing things. I can see a relegation for Cardiff in the next few years, Tan won’t have failed and his position untenable should they be relegated for not getting the right players in though - they are Cardiff, it’s expected.
Who is to say if we would have “prepared” another way we would have had 7 long years there? His methods of preparation kept us there for an ungodly amount of time, to complain when it eventually and inevitably doesn’t work seems silly to me. |

Not many clubs do prepare for relegation after being there for 7 years, it isn’t a usual scenario.
The fire sale was the remedy to the financial side f relegation, housing that amount of money in player registrations was also probably the reason we stayed there so long. It would be foolish to explore one side without looking at the other. | |

And just to add a bit more detail, although WBA had £10 million more in revenue they had £79million in total wage & NI costs compared to Swansea's £98.7 million.
In other words £20million less in wage costs, contributing to them making an operating profit of £25.7m vs a loss for Swansea of 23 million.
Like Swansea they also made some profit on player sales, albeit without being anywhere near as reliant on it, contributing to pre-tax profits of £39.8m vs £13.4m for Swansea. |

Remember when Potter was hired by the Americans it was at the time that the club stated it was also going to appoint a technical manager. That was superseded with Potter bringing a head of recruitment with him and recruitment policy being changed from the previous process. | | | |
