Anyone watching the Barcelona match? Messi just missed a penalty given for quite possibly the worst decision I've ever seen. Jordi Alba kicks the ground and goes down, with no Eibar player near him, ref gives a penalty. |

Good news for those who would prefer our players not get called up for international teams. Roy Hodgson has apparently ignored all the positive media about us at the moment (Hoddle thinks Monk is magnificent apparently) and overlooked the likes of Cork and Shelvey in favour of Ryan Mason and Jamie Vardy.
Vardy is a striker apparently, even though he has the same amount of goals this season as Shelvey, while playing more games. Mason has played regularly for Spurs, but I have no idea what he's good at, because I've never really noticed him on the pitch when I've watched them. |

Undoubtedly we're going to be looking for at least one striker this summer, hopefully two. My gut feeling is we'll sign someone who can play upfront, but also out wide. Someone like Ayew or maybe Castaignos. Best case scenario would be also signing a promising young striker, but I would expect another loan signing like Nelson.
If a scenario occurs similar to this, Gomis will likely enter next season as our first-choice striker. Given his 5 goals in 5 games, plus the quality of some of those goals (yesterday's especially), are people now happy at the thought of Gomis being our main striker next season?
Personally I think he'll be good for 15+ goals in a relatively injury-free season. |

I'm not fully in agreement with it myself, but it takes brass balls for a manager who has already helped take one club to the brink of extinction to complain about it.
His argument is along the lines that all FFP does is keep the biggest clubs where they are and make it more difficult for others to challenge them. There is some merit to this to be fair, even if the intention was to stop clubs spending beyond their means. Like Portsmouth. Remember them Harry?
Not only is he hypocritical about his past spending, he fails to notice that QPR spent far more money than anyone else in the Championship last season, without which they probably wouldn't be in the Premier League. So it's not fair that the biggest clubs can spend more than everyone else, except when he's the manager of one of those clubs. |

So the Evening Post are reporting (with no quotes or sources) that Gylfi for Ben is a straight swap and will be completed in next few days, while Vorm is going to join Spurs for £2.5m:

So it seems Ben and Gylfi have both been valued at around £10m. What do people think of that (if true)?
Personally, I don't think we would have settled for a straight swap if Pablo was still here. I think the need for an AM is so great that the club felt they had to compromise.
Vorm for £2.5m seems a little on the cheap side. How long was left on his contract? [Post edited 21 Jul 2014 10:52]

Man United have signed a 10-year deal with Adidas to make their kits at a cost of £750m. That's only £40m less than the Glazers paid to buy the club!

The rest of us should be thanking the Glazers. If United hadn't been sold to them and they'd got their commercial side in gear like this, they'd have had more money to spend than Man City and Chelsea. I think this list originally came from the Daily Mail, which explains it somewhat, but who picks these things?
Fernandinho I have no problem with, but Lukaku and Puncheon ahead of Bony? Lukaku has one goal less than Bony and his contributions have helped push Everton all of one place higher than last season, plus he's only a loan signing.
Puncheon has been very good under Pulis, but he still only has 7 goals for the season, only 1 more than Routledge and 2 more than Dyer. Hardly outstanding.
Bony has basically kept us in the Premier League this season, plus he's scored goals against nearly all the top teams.
They've also got Negredo in 8th, a striker who cost £20m and although he started brilliantly, he hasn't scored in 14 games and has fallen behind Dzeko and Jovetic. [Post edited 9 May 2014 11:24]
