Interesting to see that they have postponed again at home, I am surprised more hasn't been made of the situation and what repercussions should be.

The situation is a mess, Wasps own the ground/pitch and Coventry rent it. But from what I have read the Commonwealth games had been booked in for years so this shouldn't have come as a surprise.

I was surprised that Wasps had bought the stadium considering Rugby clubs wouldn't have half the money/income of a football club?

Also surprised more people haven't been pushing for points docked/games moved/games surrendered. If this had been us we'd have had a massive fine and points off.

Sexy Asian dwarves wanted.

I think they were banking on the Premiership at the time but in fact ended up in League 1 which was disaster.

Nothing is guaranteed in football except the top brass taking a lot of cash in Swiss bank accounts, but the possibility of relegation was always a threat.
I hope 95 year old LF gets a better deal on our new ground.

It was the same for the club I supported,Rosslyn Park. They were one of the most successful teams in the amateur years, but they couldn’t compete once teams went professional.

Held on to their ground though! For a long time they were the highest ranked purely amateur club, I think they pay modest expenses but nothing like a salary now. Down the road, Welsh, Scottish and Richmond have all gone bust chasing the professional dream and had to start again from the bottom of the ladder but have been lucky not to be made homeless

From what I understand ultimately Wasps move has not been a happy one.

They thought they were tappping into an untapped er source...

Not sure the main figures but post covid the top clubs have struggled.

Originally Wasps wanted to buy around M40 near High Wycombe but supposedly couldnt get planning, so uppped sticks....

Wonder if they could fold eventually if things carry on as they are.

It isn't football and the move lost loads of their old fan base due to geography., they did deals for a while with coaches etc but the plan was to develop the core up in West Midlands I think.

The idea in itself wasnt without it's merits but I just don't think the area has enough of the rugby fans, and the ground as we know......

There have been a few new houses built around the ground now,and one of the new residents complained about the advertising boards infringing on their daylight, which would’ve caused the club even more financial difficulties. The same advertising boards that have been up for years.
If only the residents next to Chelshite had stood their ground instead of accepting Russian blood money.

Interesting article here...

It seems like there was great hostility to Wasps from people in the city, but from CCFC fans angry at how their club was treated, rather than CRFC fans. In any case, I imagine the rugby fans are more likely to come from Leamington, Warwick, Henley etc than Coventry.

Rugby's league calendar is a joke. A couple of months, then interruptions for the Heineken Cup and Autumn Internationals - the Anglo-Welsh trophy or whatever its called now is not treated seriously by anyone. Then a burst over Christmas, then stop and start for six nations, bit more Heineken, finish in June if you're lucky. Our friend took us to see them in the Premiership final pre-Covid, they had thousands of supporters there, but the money just ran out, not helped by Covid.

It strikes me that the location of the Ricoh is its biggest issue. Virtually inaccessible, except by car and not enough parking. Compounded by high rents.

That applies for CC and Wasps. Both clubs made unnecessary and expensive moves which haven't paid off.

My son was mascot for Rs at Ricoh in 2010 and it was very very nice 'backstage' Very much like a top hotel.

Remember the day very clear. My son was led down to the changing rooms to meet the players and as we were waiting outside Adel stormed out! I asked him whats the matter and muttered something about sub as he was just told he was on the bench by Mick Harford!

We then went in and met all the players bar Adel!

Was freezing cold outside and we lost 1-0!! Still have the pic of my son walking out the tunnel with Lee Cook.
