Question for pinner
at 21:36 9 Aug 2022

Why was Bonne made to go off after the red card on Saturday?I thought that if the challenge resulted in a red or yellow card, the injured player could stay on the pitch after treatment.

I have a spare U18 ticket for ML tomorrow if anyone wants to sit in the loft for possibly the last time. You should be able to upgrade it as it’s not part of the family stand any more.My granddaughters enthusiasm lasted 5 days since she was at Wembley.
Going free if anyone is interested.

I’m off to Manchester for the England women’s game tomorrow afternoon,And I wondered if the old qpr pub was still in existence? We’re getting there about 4.30 and we’ll have a few hours to kill before the game.
Or does anyone have any suggestions for places to eat and drink within walking distance of Old Trafford?

Sky Glass

I phoned up Sky to reduce my package today and they persuaded to plump for Sky Glass at a cheaper rate than I was paying for the whole lot before.
Has anyone else got it yet,or have I been conned into getting something they can only give away for free?

The Falklands
at 23:07 12 Jun 2022

I just watched the bbc 2 program about the Falklands war and the stories of some of the veterans. Some really horrific stories from the servicemen involved in the battles to reclaim the islands.
I guess it still affects a lot of veterans and their families, even after 40 years. It was the first war involving Britain that I remember, and as I was living in Weymouth at the time,it affected a lot of naval families living in the town then.
I was actually on holiday in Florida at the time when the war broke out,so I missed the initial trouble trying to get any sort of response together. But the yanks out there were very enthusiastic about a war so close to them.

I know that the people involved were all regular servicemen and women, and a lot of them were severely affected by their experiences, but they all knew that armed conflict was a possibility when they signed up.I can’t imagine how much harder it must’ve been for the conscripted personnel in WW1 and 2,who left their ordinary jobs behind to fight in a war zone after just a few weeks basic training. How did they manage to adjust back into normal life again after what they’d been through.

My dad joined up on his 18th birthday in April 1944,and was posted to mainland Europe only a few months later, but it was something he never talked about, and we never asked. But most of his mates always seemed to have moved on from the things they did or saw.Was it a generational thing because they all lived through it together.Or did a lot suffer in silence because there wasn’t the help available then, and had to live with their demons for the rest of their lives?

I take my hat off to anyone who has fought in wars and conflicts to keep us all safe over the years.

Did anyone else watch the documentary on Gazza last night?I think most of us knew he had/has problems, but it really shows how morally bankrupt the tabloid press was,and probably still is.I really don’t know how these f uckers sleep at night.Instigating punch ups in Italy during the 1990 World Cup was just one of their schemes.
The sooner they go to the wall the better in my view.

I have a spare ticket for a Q&A night with Ian Holloway in Ipswich tomorrow night as my brother has let me down again. It is for the Kevin Beattie foundation,so just a small donation to the charity will secure the ticket.
Pm me if anybody local is interested in going along to join the crowd of R’s,Ipswich and Plymouth fans to listen to some of his stories.
It’s at the Novotel next to their ground and it starts at 7pm with the doors open from 6pm.

Questions for Pinner
at 19:21 12 Mar 2022

I thought an injured player who received treatment was allowed to stay on the pitch if the challenge that injured the player resulted in a red or yellow card for the opponent?Has this changed or is it at the ref’s discretion?
Spurs just had to do without Harry Kane for a potentially vital free kick because he had to leave the pitch after treatment.Where is the advantage for Spurs who missed their best forward in the penalty area? And if had resulted in a penalty for Spurs, would Kane have been allowed to take it?

I’ve got a ticket for Saturday’s FA trophy QF between Needham Market and Stockport county, and I’ll be joining 1,999 other people at Needham’s biggest game in their history. They beat Wealdstone and Yeovil in previous rounds,so they might have a slim chance of progressing against the National League leaders.1st time I’ve seen Stockport play for a few years since we played them in the championship,or as it league 1?
Come on the marketmen.

Just leaving
at 05:03 26 Feb 2022

Instead of the normal just back posts,I thought I’d do a just leaving one instead. One more quick cuppa while I’m waiting for the car to defrost, and then a 20 min drive to the station for the 06.12 train to Peterborough and the connection to Leeds and then Blackburn. If all goes well I’ll be there by about 11.20.
Who knows whether it’ll be worth the 10 hour return train journey, but that’s the joy of being a football fan.
The only thing left to say is Come on you R’sssssssssss.
