I think that's a great shout. Rolling subs would immediately cure this bloody problem with everybody trying to milk as much time as they can out of it. You would inevitably get everybody miraculously having their injuries in the goalmouth though.

I think the team that was a man down as a result of either of those situations may disagree. If a player is genuinely injured (maybe because an opposition player took him out) why should that team then have less players on the field and potentially concede a goal as a result. If a player is substituted play has to have stopped anyway, you can't simply swap players whilst the game is ongoing as key areas of that position on the pitch will be missing. Team breaking down field, opponent busted, obviously a try coming, but lo the doctor is on the field in back play so we're stopping. I don't think there is a perfect answer to any of this. It's very dispiriting because it's wrecking the two sports I love watching most. |
Yeah I know there's a balance but there are loads who are quite clearly having a breather and it's tactical, IN league I know less about it but it Union it's very frustration and at it's worst at the International level to stop sides who can play quick ball and fatigue others. The constant stoppages help the other team and the refs are pandering to it
