Ted Burgin Testimonial on 21:28 - Dec 27 with 2803 views | EllDale | Looking at those teams was it 1996 or 1966? And is the Leeds centrehalf Graham Smith? [Post edited 27 Dec 2023 21:29]

Ted Burgin Testimonial on 21:32 - Dec 27 with 2790 views | TVOS1907 | I think it's a typo by Andrew; it should be 1966, going off those players.
| When I was your age, I used to enjoy the odd game of tennis. Or was it golf? |

Ted Burgin Testimonial on 18:04 - Dec 28 with 2325 views | finberty | A few names in that Leeds line-up went on to become well-known names: David Harvey who was the main keeper between 1970 and the late 70s, and starred in the 1974 World Cup for Scotland; Eddie Gray - the man who later went on to rescue us from the ignominy of relegation from the bottom division (imagine that); Terry Hibbit who played for a few top line clubs; Is 'M Bates' Mick Bates who played as a defender for Leeds for several seasons?
Ted Burgin Testimonial on 19:50 - Dec 28 with 2216 views | EllDale | Rod Belfitt played a fair few first games for them before the likes of Mick Jones and Allan Clarke were signed. And I think Rodney Johnson went onto play for Doncaster?

Yes that was Graham Smith, he signed for us the summer of 66 so this was one of his last games in A Leeds shirt.

The teams listed were as appeared in the programme. There were some changes to the Dale starting line up…it was Jones, Ridge, Calloway, Birch, Taylor, Sievwright, Crossley, Morton, Jenkins, Stephenson, Storf. Subs: McQueen replaced Stephenson and Ted Burgin made a late appearance as an outfield sub for Dave Storf. HT 0-0 Goals by McQueen and Morton for Dale and by Cooper and Winspear for Leeds I dont have actual Leeds starting line up, on the names as per programme. Attendence reported as 1900 which was about average for home games that season. It was 1964 for the previos home game v Hartlepools U. and 2085 for the next home game (last of season) v Tranmere R. Graham Smith signed for Dale on 26 May.We also signed Goalie Bobby Williamson from Leeds that summer Leeds scorer Jack Winspear signed for Dale in summer 1967 after spending the 1966-7 season at Cardiff.

Makes you wonder if the initial talks were held that night after the game! | | | | Login to get fewer ads
