The Donald on 19:28 - Nov 10 by SullutaCreturned | I was comparing the situation. If we allow Putin to get away with this, do you think he'll stop there? That's the problem with despots, give them an inch and they take a mile and go looking for another mile. My grandfather didn't go to war because he wanted to but he and the millions of others knew they had to. Putin has to be stopped. And you can cite your experience but I know a few ex forces and have family serving today, they all say we have to Stop Putin with one exception and he doesn't give a toss either way apparently. |
We need to help Ukraine as the Baltic states will be next Russia is looking to get back its former lands of occupation. It’s all about pride It’s about power Putin demands it

The Donald on 20:38 - Nov 10 with 714 views | Dr_Winston | Russia has thus far taken about a fifth of Ukraine and it's cost them more than 100,000 dead and another 400,000 wounded, not to mention the depletion of most of their stocks of up to date materiel. They're not shipping in North Koreans because things are going well. I doubt very much that they'd have anything like the military capability that they'd need to overrun the Baltic States.

They haven't lost anywhere near that. 40k dead was the last i heard. There's no shortage of volunteers either. They have plenty of stocks and their factories are working full time making ammo and equipment. There are no N korean troops involved either You are correct though, to take on anything else would be difficult and costly. There's no evidence or suggestions they want to capture more than just the Donbass They would defo have the capabilities. They have the equipment and knowledge. Russian troops are probably the world's best right now. They have the equipment, training and experience - they are actually doing it right now

If France invaded Kent we would as British people say OK you have it to stop the war as there have been too many deaths on both sides. I know Ukraine / Russia is a bit more complex due to old territories but personally, I don't think Putin would then just stop. You would also have the Ukrainians in the new Russian area always kicking off. A horrible situation that DT will sort out I'm sure. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Did you not read what DrW said above. In case you didn’t, I’ll repeat it. I they wouldn’t have drafted in Nirth Korean troops if things were going well. And as fo Russian troops being the best in the world. Well, you couldn’t make it up. Except you just did!

Maybe not straight away but he'll be building his capability back up and if he's allowed this murderous theft he'll go after other targets, appeasing him here will have him thinking we are too weak.

It'll take them years to rebuild what they've lost in Ukraine, and their likely targets will be beefing up their own defences. The Baltic states are all NATO members, and even without the US they'll have more than enough to smash them in a conventional conflict. Polish rearmament alone is something to see. A standing army of 300,000, thousands of modern tanks, attack helicopters and artillery pieces.

That's not what concerns me, my issue is with appeasing hin now and giving him the idea he can get away with more. It won't take that long to churn out more materiel and while that's happening he can draft and train more troops. He has to be shown in very certain terms that we will not stand for it.

Yes, but everyone else is also strengthening in the meantime, and doing it better than Russia can. His three day war has turned into a blood soaked nightmare that has diminished Russia in every demonstrable way and had the entirely opposite effect that he intended. Instead of frightening and splitting his imagined "enemies" he's brought most of them even closer and encouraged them to strengthen their own armies. By floundering so badly in Ukraine he's made his chances of future success in any conventional conflict that much poorer.

It doesn't matter if we appease him or not, he is going to achieve his aims one way or other. The best equipment and training NATO has given the Ukraine has been countered. There is nothing we can do about the outcome except prolong it

Poor David Kelly. The man than was burdened by facts and good intelligence. He briefed the BBC and was outed by someone and forced to answer to a group a calling MP cowards. Old and frail worried about his pension he was unable to slap them down. What would have happened if he faced up and told them they were cowards I wonder sometimes. He was one man against the Western World with friends disappearing to the hills. BBC had to apologise for telling the truth the chairman forced to resign and Kelly was found in a ditch.
