Protest 12:02 - Feb 16 with 1064 viewsgrumpy

Is there any point?
Placards demanding Sports Republic out, will that work,no I don't think so.
The biggest protest is beginning now with fans not turning up,sad but true.
Saints fans deserve so much better.

I'm not so sure it wouldn't have an impact. When West Ham fans protested and stormed the directors box, West Ham's owners started to spend a lot more money on the team. They understood the fierce strong message from the fans and they acted. Suddenly, they invested more than they ever did before. Newcastle fans also made their feelings known, and they ended up in a much better place. Likewise Blackpool fans eventually got those terrible owners out that they had.

I think the Saints owners have to know, that they can't just keep f@cking things up, without consequences. It's far too easy for them to keep appointing cheap managers, buying cheap players etc. If we don't make our feelings known, nothing will change. It will just be more of the same. However, although I think we should definitely protest, our soppy lot won't so no I don't think there will be protests. Our fans either walk out ten minutes from the end or they wait to the end to clap the team off, after their 10th home defeat in a row. And nothing ever changes.

Eventually, like when Lowe took us to the depths of the championship, we had a crowd of 13,000 for a league game. This is what will happen in the end, when most of us give up, without any fight.

I've asked this before, but whatever happened to this fans representatives a couple of seasons ago that we were told would be a link to the club itself. Didn't we actually vote for them or something?
Or am I talking out if my arris and dreaming

Or, just thinking out loud, what if the likes of Nick and other top brass on all Saints forums got together to ask some questions of the club directly and express the views that probably 90% of all Saints fans are thoroughly pi55ed off with the way OUR club is being run?

That group represents the LGBTQ+, women's football, strawberry handwash in the toilets, better burgers brigade. Nothing wrong with that, but they won't be arranging any protests any time soon.

The owners don't want things to go badly, but they have got things badly wrong. They probably wanted their football club to succeed as much as we do and are just as keen as we are for things to improve. So, what is it that you want from them?

A/ To perform better?
B/ To sell the club

Would a protest make them perform better? It would certainly alienate them. It might put them under more pressure to try harder. I'm not sure they've got any more money to spend.

How do we know that new owners, if they can find any, would be any better? You could argue that they couldn't be any worse, but we really don't know that.

So, yes, an initial meeting with a cross-section of fan representatives might be the best first step. If you really believe that we will get better owners, then protests should follow.

As for fans not turning up, that reduces funds available for the club and forces them to sell more players although any player worth keeping (not that there are many of them) will probably want to leave this summer anyway. It also sends a message to any prospective new owners that we are fickle, apathetic fans.

Newcastle fans' approach was the best. They turned up to games, but had well organised protests (with placards). Just staying away is apathy, which is easy and is probably going to happen anyway.

Huge protests at Tottenham. Thousands of fans demanding change. There are plans to get games abandoned, to force the owners out. At Saints - Absolutely nothing. Do our fans just not care as much? Not as passionate?

Compare what Spurs have put up with to what we have.

Exactly. They haven't been relegated. They beat us 5 nil. Their fans just have much higher expectations and demand success. Our fans clap the team after 10 defeats.

We could always get everyone to leave ten minutes before the game ends.
That'll show them.

Their fans were holding up a banner which said "24 years one trophy, enough is enough "

We could have one that says "24 years no trophies 4 relegations one bankruptcy enough is enough "
