On the subject of really REALLY good telly - if you haven't watched it, I'd highly recommend Landman starring Billy Bob Thornton.
On the other side of the coin, I wasted 3 hours watching The Brutalist at the weekend because the reviews were so good. But jeez, what a long, boring, over-hyped crock of sh1t.

Everybody has different tastes. I rarely watch TV dramas nowadays, but I enjoyed Wolf Hall: the Mirror and the Light, mainly for the riveting performance by Mark Rylance. I guess some others might hate it and will probably tell me so on here :)
There are still hundreds of great old documentaries out there, far better than most dramas:

Great series and the books are even better if you like reading
Thankfully they're filming the next series as I type. Brilliant series - right up my street. Gary Oldman has always been a terrific actor.
Might well give the books a look - not that I get much time to read these days. Funny really, when I was at sea for 12-years all those years ago, I always had a book in my hand & was never without one. I must have read (literally) hundreds & hundreds of books - mainly because I had a lot of down time in which to do so, being stuck on an ocean somewhere around the globe.
Alas, I honestly don't think I've read a book now for... twenty years? Shameful really.

nothing can come close to Adolescence Thats reinvented TV
I presumed the very fact that it starred Stephen Graham, would have been enough to put you off - having slagged him on here for his typecast and stereotypical roles in the other productions he has featured in ? :-)
I personally haven't seen it yet. I am waiting, as apparently the missus reckons it is one we could actually watch together.

I got back into the habit of reading last year as i realised i'd been really lazy with it and was much more likely to stick the tv on instead.
I try and mix my reading between fiction and non fiction and the slow horses series of books was definitely one of the best i've picked up in a while (also really enjoying the new Murakami too).
Interestingly i find it relaxes me a lot more than watching tv and i definitely find it's a better use of an evening

wow for real? Not one for the craft of good TV then
Yeah, dull as ditchwater. When I watch TV I want to properly escape and watch crap - or as someone mentioned Slow Horses type thing, not too serious, good fun, good acting.
Like Franniestache I've started reading more again too. Glass of wine and some autobiography and I'm sorted.
My wife and I have about 1.5 hours in the evening where we turn off and it's mostly some tripe TV and then a read. I agree that I've missed reading too - definitely relaxing with no noise.
But then I hate noise. I think I'm getting old, haha.

100%.
Not taking anything away from the actors or shooting in one, but it was (for me) totally overhyped and overrated.
I watched the last one on Sunday night and it thoroughly depressed me, I like dark tv but not such realistic dark tv. Having a 14 year old girl and 11year old boy I was left hoping school isn’t as awful as that.
