The left wing raising its ugly head again Clive Lewis(who?) has offered to give up his seat in an attempt to get Andy Burnham back into Parliament to challenge Starmer

They will never learn already making themselves unelectable again

You give it out, you take it back it`s all part of the game

Electoral Commission calls Labour out on its bullshit.

Very unlikely a quango and toothless authority will bring down this lot with big talking .

Useless Starmer will spin it again to accuse The Electroal Commision of a fault in their fact finding and I have done nothing wrong guv , lets paper over the cracks and I am a Leader .

I treasure my vote at Election time , they are all a go to X with no reason to trust anyone .
I will vote at all times , my right.

Some nobody tells me Local Polling Station is postponed , irrelevant of my thougths
Red flags are to the fore and questions as to why these actions are necessary .

Reporting that this useless Starmer will now postpone local elections in England due to be voted on May next year , and deferred till 2027 .

What a coward , he knows he unpopular and afraid so lets buy some time please voters .

The Tories and Reform are certainly rattling his cage , red tape will solve and get me out of the mess I am in .

More AMs in Cardiff Bay wanted by a Labour Welsh Government again . I was not asked my thoughts as a Welsh voter though , instead lets do it and more snouts in the trough please .

Lets hope next May Sennedd Election will see a Party in turmoil and floundering .

How is he allowed to dictate as to when elections can take place, MP's need to stand up and be counted and put their objections in.

If the elections go ahead that’ll be the end for Starmer and he knows it. Reminds me of a scene in the new statesman where Alan b’stard is giving a speech at the Tory party conference and the slogan behind him reads “CLINGING TO POWER” 😂

The majority of MP’s are Labour politicians though. They won’t want to see their control over local councils obliterated either. Cancelling our elections because the ruling party doesn’t want to lose is the sort of thing you see in a banana republic.

There appears to be some miss information about what exactly could take place, some outlets and parties are saying abc and others xyz.

Starmer isn’t allowed to dictate when the elections take place.

There’s a significant reorganisation of local government taking place in England, they are getting rid of some district and county councils and creating new authorities which will deliver services etc. Some councils are concerned about running the elections when there’s such a huge amount of reorganisation taking place and capacity pressures on organisations and that the elections could undermine the reorganisation work.

It would appear “multiple” councils have approached the about having the elections delayed. As a result, the government have asked English councils undergoing reorganisation whether they need to delay the elections and the government have given the councils a deadline to submit requests to postpone their local elections next May.

Legislation will be needed to delay elections, in line with usual Parliamentary process so it makes sense to ask and be able to plan ahead. Some local elections were delayed in 2019 and it happened again in 2022 obviously under the last 2 Conservative governments, so there is a precedence.

The government have said their starting point is that all elections will go ahead, but that all views will be considered before taking the final decision early next year.

Labour have control of 18 of the councils affected, the Conservatives 9, and the Liberals 7. The conservatives are defending the largest number of seats.

The Liberals and Reform have criticised the plan calling it a Labour and Conservative carve up. The Conservatives have also criticised the plan on the one hand, but Kemi Badenoch has indicated she would not stand in the way of Conservative councils requesting postponements.

The elections can only be postponed if the relevant council asks for them to be delayed, if the councils don’t ask the elections can’t be delayed.

Labour MPs in a safe seat will not dare to make a challenge , Labour whips will put them back in their box at any word of dissent and you are a not a true red rossette wearer .

Sadly this Sir and Human Rights lawyer at the top table knows the score , so BS baffles brains to us underlings ,

There are Conservative councils also asking to delay. They must also be told no.

The excuse being given is that the reorganisation is taking too long, but I'd wager that if you dig deep enough you'd find that most of them, if not all are currently polling as likely to tip to Reform control. That's not a good thing, but manipulation of democracy is worse.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

All it took at the Royal Gala Performance was a mere mention of Keir Starmers name by an impressionist from dead ringers to elicit a loud chorus of booing. The man is seriously disliked. The crowd would no doubt have been made up of celebs and charity workers and volunteers. In short the sort of people you’d normally place large bets on voting Labour.

Starmer is in serious trouble.

I and assume many others couldn't care less if Starmer and his bunch of shysters are in trouble , I'm more concerned that the longer this lot remain in power the more trouble the country will fall into.

Exactly my concern. They know they won't serve a second term so any policies they introduce they won't be around to reap the consequences. They need to be gone now before they do more damage.

It’s just the hard core class warriors who how support
I truly think now general public can see Labour are not the party for the workers anymore than the Tories were for the “ bosses”
Plenty of “ working people” support many of the aspirational principles of Conservative Party
Fact is, they too let down millions
We need to change our whole culture and thinking
We need to radically change monarchy , encourage thrift and educate our young people properly
We have to address the break down of the family unit

The latest sign of internal tensions is Wes Streeting's statement in support of a customs union. Apart from being a terrible idea, this would break an explicit manifesto commitment not to follow that path and contradicts what Starmer has said in the last week or two. What worries me is that a large section of the party who were elected on a manifesto designed to allay fears on multiple issues, now seem hell bent of moving towards harder left-wing policies that only a minority would have voted for. Would it be fair to switch to Angela Rayner as PM and Ed Miliband as Chancellor without a new election?

The other bad news is the way the deficit is rising alarmingly even with the tax increases. Public sector net borrowing was 11.7 billion pounds in November. The Labour backbenchers pushing some of the spending believe in the magic money tree.

That has to be a worry , Politicians' bible are the Polls and it can't be the PM's pay which attracts the likes of Starmer as most at his level are more than wealthy already ,the draw is power & ideology , even as thick skinned as Starmer & co appear to be ,even they know there's absolutely no chance of a second term so will they continue on the same path regardless ,so far it seems so.
No one seems to have acknowledged the threat Starmer is creating over Brexit , with a new agreement with Spain & the EU over access to Gibraltar there seems to be no end of them ignoring the democratic will of the people.

It was a great spectactical you missed a treat, Jessie J's singing was a treat followed by our Kathryn what a voice and the icing on the cake was the Les Miserables actors from the west end ending the show, they were fantastic.

You need to take that lovely Wife of yours to see the show at the Sondheim Theatre it's a fantastic experience.

“The agreement has received cross-party support in Gibraltar, with Chief Minister Fabian Picardo hailing it as an "excellent deal".”

So who exactly has precedence and makes the calls? The people who live on “The Rock” who are directly impacted by the current rules on a day to day basis or people living in the UK some 1500 miles away most of whom don’t give 2 @@@@@ about Gibraltar.

Labour seem dead set on tying us to a rotting carcass.

15-20 years ago the GDP of the EU was about 10% bigger than the US. Now it's a third smaller. The Politicos in charge are more concerned with Empire building and regulation than in economic growth, and the entire continent is stagnant as a result.

The UK has utterly wasted the opportunities offered by freeing ourselves from that malaise, largely because most of our own political class didn't want to do so.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

The government seems to be trying to keep the unions on side as things go downhill. One consequence of the employment rights legislation now being enacted is that public bodies will no longer have to publish the cost of giving time off to union reps for union business (“facility time”). Time must be given to union reps in both the public and private sectors and now the unions themselves will be able to determine how many hours for union business is appropriate. The cost to public bodies had risen to £98.2 million in 2023-24 before reaching £106.7 million last year. The right to facility time will now also extend to equalities officers, and the cost will no longer be transparent.

https://www.thetimes.com/uk/po

(Behind paywall)
Taxpayers will be kept in the dark about how much public money is being spent so that union officials can have paid time off work, under the government’s workers’ rights reforms.

Despite new figures showing that last year almost £107 million was spent on so-called facility time, Labour has scrapped powers to cap it and removed the requirement for public bodies such as the NHS and schools to declare it in the future.
At the same time, the right to be paid to carry out union duties has been extended to equality representatives in workplaces to allow them to focus on equality duties.

Teressa May and Bojo had at least the decency to give it up when they were found to be so far out of their depth and true Leaders necessary to get out of the chaos the UK is fast becoming .

Different riders but the same horse comes to mind regarding Politicians .

Sadly this latest PM is either deaf to the criticsism and skin like a rhino , or has not got the backbone to admit to his broken pledges and continual U turns on his manifesto .

Tosh.

May left after her 3rd attempt to push through her Brexit plan crashed and burned and her party bombed in the May 19 elections, the knives were being sharpened and she jumped before she was pushed because the writing was on the wall.

Boris only left when his ministers started bailing out on him after he’d been shown / caught out having told pork pies about one of the whips.

Starmer may be very unpopular, but he hasn’t has yet had a massive annihilation at the polls (that may come next May) nor has he found himself in a Boris type position where he’s been caught out and his ministers are bailing out on him.
