Shameless plug but documentary on Banbury United edited by my Niece (17 - QPR fan from birth). Nice variation on magic hat in there and a far more sustainable plan than the 4 year one…. please feel free to forward 😎
Watched them down at Lowestoft 3 or 4 seasons ago, only time I’ve witnessed crowd trouble at a non league game. They had a right few idiots following them that day.
‘Proper town, proper football, proper people’ - loved that! Well done to Oxford’s niece for a brilliant editing job; a great juxtaposition of politics and nostalgia (with a universal theme). Must’ve been so hard deciding what to leave out though. The ‘Deep Heat’ reference by the bloke talking about what got him hooked took me back to when I used to watch my dad’s team in the 60’s. Not sure if the stuff had even been invented then though. In my day it was all Brylcreem and White Horse liniment. Let’s hope the goalkeeper’s assertion that, if you cut him in half, like a stick of rock, it would say ‘Banbury United’, isn’t actually put to the test, mind. What a shame they’ve been knocked out of the FA Cup. Banbury United v QPR in the Third Round; the dream draw. I think we know who’d be in the hat for the Fourth!
Edited to say, what a great thing to have on your CV at the age of 17!
