Worse we've had for years and I include Cabango in that.. Just simply cannot keep a clean sheet.. Even after going 2 up today you just know what was likely to happen at some point.. You cant trust any of them.. Key is soooo bad at the moment I cant believe hes in the team every week.. Burgess looks shot to pieces and certainly not a leader like we was hoping for from a recently promotion winning side in Ipswich... Cabango all at sea.. Unless we can somehow plug the dam soon I think we're in real trouble

I was seeing exactly the same as you especially regards them seemingly having more players on the pitch. They always had space and I have to say that man for man they were better.

Matos spoke of bringing the identity back to Swansea. We need to ask the question whether that style is suited to the rough and tumble of the Championship. We need more steel in the side, more aerial ability especially in the midfield and more pace. Not much to ask, is it?🙄

Our style is most definitely not suited to the championship, a blind man could see that.

It does get my goat when people keep talking about getting back to the 'Swansea way'....why would you go back to base your game around a system that was effective 10 years ago. Football has moved on and so should we, lets focus on building a team that can compete using the old fashioned virtues of hard work, organisation and discipline.

To succeed in the championship you have to have a core bunch of mentally strong players who are willing to go the extra yard, unfortunately we dont seem to have any of these within our current squad. More interested in their 'stats' than actually trying to graft to win a game.

Poll: Where Do You Think We Will Finish This Season?

I have no doubt the way we played in our promotion season would work today. The issue is we haven’t got close to it, bar a couple of spells under Potter, for over a decade.

Possession isn’t a problem. Passing isn’t a problem. Doing it without penetration, whilst also leaving ourselves exposed to quick, direct counterattacks is a massive problem.

For that system to work, the whole team needs to be in synch and there needs to be a lot of clever off the ball runs to give the man in possession multiple passing options and drag opponents out of position.

Gradually inching our way up the pitch to the point where our back four are on halfway, but the opposition have ten men behind the ball and are ready to pounce is nothing like it, apart from we have a lot of the ball.

I would have said that of our back four Key is the one who is struggling, with Burgess still not settling to the extent we would have hoped, and Cabango and Tymon solid at this level. In the five across the back configuration Casey has done okay, and will improve with experience. Vig is a good keeper and (as a former amateur keeper myself) I think his alleged weakness on crosses is exaggerated. None of the three WBA goals came from headed goals, and the one on Tuesday came from a very deep cross where the failure seemed to me to lie with the defenders beyond the far post. To me the present problems lie with the two defenders mentioned above and - just as much - the failure of the midfield to get back to effectively aid the back line.
