An in-the-know Saints fan said to me on Saturday he was surprised that Parsons gets away with so little stick.

He believes that the 3-year extension to Stephens' contract was more down to Parsons than Spors.

Largely on the basis that much like Russell Martin, Parsons wants to be everyone's mate, and as somebody with a bit-part footballing career, he is almost in awe of the players.

Some Saints fans give him credit for having changed the operational side of things, but pretty much everything he has done I detest, i.e.

- moving the away end
- the gulag fanzones
- Level 1
- the Dell bar

I had not previously given him much stick on the playing side, as I had thought that was largely Spors' remit.

But I am now starting to think otherwise.

I think he's done a cracking job to be fair.

The fan zones are always buzzing pre-match full of families, it's a nice thing to see rather than an empty area around the ground with people mooching around looking bored.

Also tried Level 1 with my son for the first time before the Hull match, we played the mini golf and it was really good, we enjoyed that far more than the match ......... but that's a different issue.

Also the Dell Bar is quite nice, we stopped in their after a stadium tour and had some okay food in a nice environment.

So of all the things Saints / Sports Republic have done wrong, I don't think it's fair to say this side of things is one of them, definitely a lot more revenue coming into the club to pay for our next Bundesliga 2 excel analyst or Bazunu's contract extension ...

You are right, on the operational side of things we have done some good things.

Parsons has tried to not only generate income but get the fans engage with the club and get people using St Mary's 7 days a week.

The Fanzone - as you say, there are thousands of people mingling around St Mary's 3 hours before kick off in 4 different fanzones if you include the away one.

The Dell bar is in use not only before and after games, but during the week and although i have not been in level 1 it again gets kids engaged with the club

In truth fanzones are not our invention, we were fairly late to the party, but they cater for a section of the fanbase and have some decent offers, they sell their Premium Lager at 4 pints for £22 with discount for season ticket holders meaning you can pay less than a fiver a pint, compare that for what you are paying for the same beer in the chain pubs at £6 plus.

But all of them were fairly cheap to build and generate revenue, those that say that they would rather give their money to local pubs/businesses, should consider for instance just how many pubs are not actually local businesses, but part of chains and big companies, virtually all of the ones from London Road to the Royal Pier are owned by the big pub companies such as Wetherspoons/Yates etc, likewise the fast food chains and restaurants.

I was never a fan of moving the away end and it still has issues as in they can't split it into sections when the away club don't take a full allocation, so that home fans can use it.

But the only real issue is that those that the Northam end havent got anyone to bounce off, but why should that be a problem, most of the clubs who are known for their atmosphere, have their "singing" section at the far end from the away fans, Liverpool, Everton, Forest, Man Utd, Sunderland, Palace, all clubs who don't rely on sitting next to the away fans to generate their enthusiasm and dare I say it Portsmouth.

So the issue isn't moving the away end, it is our own ability to get things going.

We go into level one at half time now, it's decent to be able to have a proper drink like a whisky or brandy in relative peace rather than being in the throngs being served crap over priced beer.

One of the few things i'd say is an actual improvement (though we all comment on how far we've come from the days of the old "refreshments" stall at the back of the Archers & urinal that was basically a wall)

Sorry Pat. I enjoy the pubs before the game but also I have used the fanzones now and again , anything for a change. I hate routines and it’s nice to change things about a bit .

I’m Always in The Dell bar at half time too I actually like all the changes, love the fact you can order food before the game in the concourse and just walk up and collect it at halftime.

He was nicknamed 'poundshop parsons' by some staff that have now left.

He was responsible for the Adam Lallana shambolic employment, despite being made aware that he was a rat that become a fake poison spreading gofer for a former chairman

Becuase he had association with Glenn Cockerill, he immediatly brought back toxic PR looney Le tissier who had been righlty removed from any club media. That caused a right rumpus amongst staff esp ones involved in marketing and sponsorship.

Last year he caused a right mess around football agents, which i suspect is still being played out.

It would not surprise me about Jack Stephens as Spoors wouldnt have a clue about him.

Changes around the outside of the stadium are something thats been talked about before Parsons turned up. I dont believe the changes made inside have achieved the claims being made at the time and have been the atmosphere even worse. The club really wanted the ununsed seats back in play and 500+ losing revenue.

The Dell bar in my eyes is only going to work financially on matchdays and you then have to think , is it worth it ? The bar around the kingsltand stand already suffice ?

Level 1 is a total disaster , but that could easilty be predicted when it was suggested on paper.

On the plus side he has made many more ex saints players welcome to visit st marys

I enjoy the Dell Bar at most half-times. You can get a choice of beers that you would expect in any regular pub. It is s step up on the Kingfisher or nothing that would be sat on the side pre-poured before.
And if we are as shite as normal, you can stay a bit longer into the second half and have a second or third !
Investment into the playing staff is the problem - and not using the increased revenue from these outlets !
