But then didn't we max out on loan players when we got promoted? |

The weather forecast is not looking great for Sunday. Therefore waiting for an hour to get on a coach at St. Mary's and then standing in a gulag at Fratton for 2 hours pre-match may have slightly less appeal than it may have done... |

I suppose the thing is, do the players want to keep him in a job sufficiently to actually do the one thing that will guarantee him a few months longer? Have my doubts. |

I know. I did it last year for the Friday night game. Took about 3 and a half hours to get there from Poole. We still sold it out. |

Here’s hoping. Might be handy if they are open during the game as well….. |

Their support is absolute shit. I think they will struggle to fill the 20,000 stadium they will have in a few years. Hopefully it sends them into financial ruin when they get relegated. |

Do we know yet what “facilities’ there will be open for us when we arrive at Fratton before 10am? |

Bump. Just hearing on Solent that the total cost of policing the two South Coast derbies is £700,000!!! That bloody awful Crime Commissioner Donna Jones was bleating on that the sum which relates to the presence at the grounds (and which the Dibble can recover from the clubs) is just £35,000 each. That sounds utterly nuts. Is the cost of providing policing away from the grounds really around £630,000???!!!??? I thought that was the point of a bubble; it would prevent flashpoint places around the train station etc. Bonkers. |

And we are 6 points away from being relegated from it. It's utterly shameful. The league will be far stronger next season with Wolves, Burnley and one of West Ham, Forest, Leeds or Boscombe coming down. And that's our last season with the SKY parachute payments. Oh well, we at least won't have VAR for a few years. Every cloud etc. |
 | Forum Thread | My team to play at Fratton and beyond at 11:59 18 Jan 2026
Pretty much a copy and paste from the "Can we stay up?" poll thread. I guess the new keeper is going to have to play; jury still out on him though. We need to revert to 4-4-1-1. Manning has to go. He is incapable of defending, and Welington is little better. I would play Jack Stephens at left-back; he has done it a number of times before, including the play-off final and in a few games in the Prem. This then gives Eckert the three tallish players he wants at the back. Bree at right-back. Roerslev isn't good enough and is too weak. Harwood-Bellis and Wood as the 2 CB's. Though I have severe doubts about both of them. They are simply the least bad options we have. Shea Charles and Bragg in central midfield. Downes can do one. I'd happily see him never play for the club again, as with Manning. Scienza and Fellows out wide. Armstrong behind Stewart as our attack. I actually think that team could get a result at Fratton. |

We need to get 17 points from our remaining 19 games to get to 50 points, which is usually enough. Should be straightforward. However we look bereft of anything right now. We need to revert to 4-4-1-1. Manning has to go. He is incapable of defending, and Welington is little better. I would play Jack Stephens at left-back; he has done it a number of times before, including the play-off final and in a few games in the Prem. I'd happily see him never play for the club again, as with Manning. Scienza and Fellows out wide. Armstrong behind Stewart as our attack. That team should have enough experience, know-how and goals in it to get the results we need. |

A question I almost cannot believe I am asking. However the current table makes far from pretty reading. Fratton is unbelievably looking a big 6-pointer as much as everything else that goes with that game. Unfathomable given how much we spent in the summer. This club is a total shambles. |

Alfie House said recently that the Club overspent in the summer transfer window, and they made a number of acquisitions in the expectation that Aribo and Edozie would leave. So the pair of them staying has cost us quite a lot, both in lost transfer fees / loan fees and extra wages. |
