Hindsight is the most wonderful thing. After 6 wins out of 7, there was no way he wasn't going to get the job. |

A team which spends over £50 million in the summer transfer window should never be mid-table in the Championship. No chance. |

I dare say he will be in the Prem next season whatever happens. |

New keeper and striker required to go straight into the first-team. Crack on, Spors. And none of this waiting until 31st January nonsense. Get it done on 1st January. Eckert keeps harping on about us having this great recruitment team who are looking all-year round at players. No excuses for faffing about then. There is still a chance to make the top 6. But the longer we leave this, the slimmer that chance will become. [Post edited 27 Dec 7:40]

I rather suspect the German 2nd division is a more likely source for targets. Current top scorer with 12 goals is Younes Ebnoutalib, a 22 year-old German playing for SV Elversberg. |

There are loads from Bournemouth / Poole and the surrounding areas. Always have been, and that will never change, regardless of how Boscombe have been doing. |

Beckham was always a lot smarter than people gave him credit for. An England great. |

Damion Downs to Hamburg. |

Not a big fan of Boxing Day games. No trains and the atmosphere is usually rubbish due to hangovers etc. Would have preferred to play on Saturday as the Prem are doing. |

1. Saints to finish in the play-offs. Or second if we can sign a decent striker in January. Personally I would offer Wrexham £10 million for Kieffer Moore and see if they budge. 2. Ipswich to win the division. Coventry to choke, and finish third if Saints sign Kieffer Moore, or they will limp into second if we don’t. 3. Leicester to be in a relegation battle. Happy Christmas to all Uglies. |

Isn’t she in charge at Stoke? Interesting that she and her family don’t seem to throw money at the team….. |
 | Forum Reply | Bazunu propping up the table 2nd Championship season running at 11:53 23 Dec 2025
I don't hate Gavin Bazunu. He is committed to the club, and if he plays at Fratton in a few weeks, he will get absolute pelters from their fans. However, Nick you are I believe a fan of the odd stat or two. I take on board your point re his first season in the Prem, as he was playing behind a defence which simply was not good enough. However, I seem to recall his shots saved v shots faced ratio was one of the poorest in the Championship two seasons ago, when we had a defence which was playing against much less potent attacks. His stats just never seem to be very good sadly. Coventry's keeper looked very good on Saturday, and you can tell it reflects in the confidence his team play with. |

I am surprised they have sacked Rowett. He has a decent pedigree in this League, often with clubs on very low budgets. I have a feeling he was brought into Birmingham too late to save them two seasons ago. |

Definitely. The margin between being near the top and near the bottom is thin in this League. The signing of a decent striker in the next couple of weeks could make all the difference. |

Yes. He was also on that BBC documentary a few months ago about players in the 90's getting scammed out of most of their earnings by a couple of dodgy agents who promised riches from film investment schemes and overseas property developments. Along with the likes of Danny Murphy, Rod Wallace, Brian Deane, Tommy Johnson and others. They lost untold millions between them. |

Given our budget, we really should be in the top 2 this season. I don't think any other club in the League could afford Scienza. The only club with a bigger wage bill than us is Leicester, who now cannot afford to pay their staff..... |

Some scary posts from Kieran Maguire's Twitter account this morning about losses recently reported by Championship clubs. Once the parachute monies dry up, very deep pockets indeed are required. |
