I am surprised that George Lawrence hasn't been put in the mix. Most of his crosses swerved out of play like Frannies clearances. |

Always a great day out taking in loads of local bands.
10.30-12.00 start at Canutes palace ( silent disco ) with Johnny Samson DJ'ing til 12. They'll be some Trojan records spun alongside some ska reggae etc.
He also starts a residency at the Engineers on Saturdays after home games in future |

I'm never keen on adding new laws. It should be a simple game.
However, to stop the likes of Eddie Howe teams using every trick to either gain an advantage or waste time, then this sort of change would see that keepers very rarely actually need the magic sponge !
Sporting integrity seems to have been consigned to the waste bin of time, alongside the attitude that you should never show the opposition that the last tackle actually hurt!
I know I'm just getting old..... |

Claus probably in the top 3, with Dean Hammond.
Special mention for Peter Rodrigues as our only major trophy winning captain. Peter still lives amongst us and actively supports the local Trojans Rugby club |

I certainly don't agree with everything that Nick posts, but for point 5 it is and always has been a big point of issue for me. We are not reds, we are red and white! MUFC/Liverpool etc are Reds
For the mentioned song, for well over 50 years, I have always sung come on you Saints!
Back in the day we also used to sing Come on you Red and White... Machines

Coldest was definitely Wigan - firstly I had to walk from Woolston to Bitterne with a bag full of beer through the deep snow as the minibus couldn't get to me on the snow bound roads. Motorways were alright though. Sunderland away was always cold - remember the toilet that you could see over the wall down towards the North Sea at Roker
Wettest - Bucharest/Derby/Leicester away all as previously mentioned.
Hottest - Possibly Chelsea at home first game at SMS
Hottest played in was beating the Stonewall World Cup winning team at Stoneham  |

We were on that train and ended up shelling £50 for a cab back to Southampton! After listening to the eastern european guard lady ranting at everyone...
Apart from that I thoroughly enjoyed a fair few beverages near Paddington on the way there and back, with a load of old mates
As for the trophy - I am lucky enough to have seen our only major one to date and with the way it always pans out for the big money teams, am unlikely to see another one. I hope you get your turn sometime.
But like on other threads, I was immensely proud to see our city represented so well by the team and so many supporters all day.
As For City fans - they have turned into entitled rsoles. Most of them when questioned weren't from Manchester either..... |

I was a 9 year old and went to both with my Dad. Can remember how steep the Wembley steps felt at that time and that small.
Loved the Cup final ( probably because I have more memories from watching it back so many times ), cant remember much about the Charity Shield.
Remember much more clearly from the League Cup Final in 79 and the chant of we'll be back again in May - sadly we weren't! |
