Hi,
I’m trying to trace the date of a QPR win (don’t laugh).
It was a first day of the new season and Rangers were at home. We went 1-0 up,
Arse then scored to head to a draw. It was 30 odd years ago.
Now, the reason I need your help, is that as my age has gone on, like some others, my mind has slowly started to ‘grey out’, leaving me ‘blanks’ in my recall.
And here’s the real kicker.
Dad died,
Then 8 months ago mum died.
And I’m left with part memory of the match as it was my son’s birthday. And I don’t know the date.
Feckin grey cells.
If anyone can help me, I can make sure I can slowly fill the gaps in my memory, please?

I was at that Highbury match.
They'd just had some big screens installed so that was the first ever match where the crowd could watch replays of the goals.
Merson's goal was right at the end, and I remember the home fans giving us a load of grief. Annoying gits.
That was a weird start to the season for Gerry's team & at the time I really thought that if we'd got the win we'd deserved at Highbury we would've played with a bit more confidence. But what actually happened was quite a lot of drawn games and it took us ages to get a home win that season (beating Everton with a memorable late Simon Barker goal)
Got to say a few words in defence of George Graham, because he was an important part of Venables' coaching team at QPR. It could be argued that the offside trap that Graham's Arsenal became notorious was pioneered by Venables at QPR.
When Graham took over at Arsenal he brought through an outstanding set of youth team players (Tony Adams, David Rocastle, Paul Davis, Martin Hayes, Kevin Campbell, Michael Thomas)
People go on and on about United's Class of 92, but Graham's youngsters from a few seasons earlier don't get nearly enough credit in comparison. |  | | |
