Why is the defence any more of a concern than the attack? We only conceded 1 shot on target yesterday, we conceded no goals against Leganes nor Udinese but everyone thinks that's our biggest problem? 🤷♂️
We're lacking intention to go and outscore our opponents by 2/3 goals. We'll always concede, and yes, some will be down to individual errors like we saw yesterday, but the best form of defence is attack, yet it seems our attacking players are getting off Scott free from criticism.
Matos showed last year he can adapt to situations when we go a goal down, and get something out of games, but what I want to see is an attitude of it's ok if you score 1, maybe 2... Because we're going to get 3 or 4 |
Totally agree,Roberto when he was here had a philosophy of you you score 1 we will score 2 ....
Unfortunately as a result of his mistakes last season Burgess is a target for many,but he is now possibly out for a while but we have options in Welsh,Lissah and even Carter Heywood for cover.
We do need to get the business end ie up front firing,we created several chances in that first half going at least one goal up changes the game. | |

Carter Heywood is only 17 so very very young. But Matos said he is with the squad this season and has a number so who knows. I just think that is a very young age mentally and physically for central defence in the Championship. [Post edited 10 Aug 8:20]

I mentioned Carter Heywood only as cover we have Welsh and Lissah before him .
There is no way I would suggest throwing him in as a starter as it could ruin his confidence but there is no need for thr club to rush out and recruit another centre back whether on loan or permanent as we have I think enough bodies to cover ,Arthur Parker can play there too I think?
I feel we still might need something in the middle of the park to help get us scoring | |

Yes I understand that and apologise if it looked otherwise. Carter Heywood still has me wondering why we only gave him a one year contract, there may well be a 12 month option but it still seems strange for a youngster involved with the squad.

Think people are conflating him getting injured with his performances
He’s shaky
He was in World Cup
He is now
He needs replacing ideally , he should have been whilst not becoming seriously injured in the process
We surely have to hope Welsh is better
