Isle of Wight is suffering as well apparently, saw earlier that the Canary Isles are as well.
Jersey is surrounded by water yet they aren't suffering, because they won't tolerate them landing and won't give then anything if/when they try and land.
They have lots of migrants who work hard in hospitably, but they have to go home for three months every year.

I'd like to think that some would be allowed residency after so many years of coming back and forth and working in gainful employment though Dem in Jersey anyway. Hotel we stayed in the people there were grafters as were others we saw in other places.
The Grill restaurant attached to the Royal Yacht was one of the best places we have been to for a decent steak, superb. We stayed in the Pomme d'Or Hotel, both places run by migrants, excellent service at both and spotless.

I understand that after I think 10 years the professionally qualified types can apply for residency. I think certain laws are being relaxed but another year's working visa is usually granted unless there is a good reason for it not to be. I also get the impression it's easier if you are from the EU or the Commonwealth and I don't think you need to apply for a work permit either.
I just like the fact they can arrest and send the illegal entrants back to France - their island their rules. We just don't seem to want to upset people at all costs.
My mate is from Jersey and goes back often - I will ask him when he's in the pub next

There is a term that I first became aware of during the Swansea traveller site protests a few years back. That word is "localism".
Once Labour and 'nation of sanctuary' Plaid types start the widespread-nationwide distribution of these illegal migrants into houses, streets and postcodes?
That is when protests will well and truly become an epidemic phenomena. A case of protests like the one seen in Llanelli erupting here, there and everywhere!

"If the government stop listening then things are going to get out of hand". The clergyman is right about that. The government strategy so far is to clamp down when the native population protests - riot police protecting migrants from locals, the long sentences last year for rioting and social media tweets, the multiple charges this week against the man responsible for the Raise the Colours campaign. As people start to get desperate thinking we are close to the point of no return, I would not be surprised to see some angry people targeting individual politicians, and many will say they brought that on themselves.

The Govt sureley has to act and do more in dealing with the boats and those crossing, people have had enough and are afraid to speak out. The protests look to be planned and organised, those of us of a certain age have seen the change within the country and in people . Sadly however in my view whatever the outcome only unrest will be the result under this or any other Govt.

Should the report not start with how the feek could a rubber dinghy full of ilegal people cross the channel for 10hrs and then get escorted by the OUR RNLI into one of OUR ports at Portsmouth and then get protected by OUR government and OUR police

We used to go to the Lamplighter late on tidy pub proper mans pub at Mulcaster St, St Helier, just around the corner from Hotel, good pub proper man's pub with real ales, Troubadour was ok to sit outside in the sun etc, always busy and they sold the local real ale Liberation Ale nice ale

The shadow policing minister was just replying to his counterpart in government in the Commons a short while ago. He said he visited the beaches in France and witnessed a small boat heading off for the UK while being watched by the police. He asked one of them why on earth they didn’t stop it and he said they were told not to interfere.
Aren’t we paying through the nose for them to do just that, interfere???!!!

I saw no thuggish behaviour on Friday or whenever it was, in fact there was no confrontation at all.
There were issues last night in Portsmouth but in the main it was just people getting pissed off and shouting. Huge crowd to get together at two in the morning though.
A great believer in taking anything you like to wherever you want to.
Why would a foreigner with no permanent address not want to enter a "Welfare State". In the world of mass migration a Welfare stats is as good as it gets.

Of course, that is what Milton Friedman famously said: "It's just obvious you can't have free immigration and a welfare state." I rarely agree with anything he wrote but he was right about that. Actually, he preferred open borders and did not see the withering away of welfare states as a problem.
