Sad news indeed. An interesting musician. His style and approach had a big influence on the likes of Bowie, Gary Numan, The Stranglers and many more. You could say he was ahead of his time. RIP

Had the pleasure of posting Sweet Jane and White light/White Heat on Friday before last (you lot missed it because you were all tucked up and only me and Blob were still going).
Highly original guitarist, fantastic songwriter (never afraid to explore the less attractive parts of life), self-described rock n roll animal.
Bit of a miracle he made it so far. I happened to sit next to him at Kensington Odeon about 15 years ago and I thought he was frail and old-looking then. I can report that he didn't have pale blue eyes.
"Genius" is an overused word, but Lou Reed was one. He and the rest if the Velvets changed the face of music - probably as influential as Lennon/McCartney and Dylan.
If he's still out there I doubt he's doing anything as boring as resting in peace.
