He said no-one plays one up front these days, then said due to injuries had no choice, only one striker but has brought a second striker on for the last few minutes when trying to get a result. Didn't he play Zamora and Johnson together at the start of the season until they fell to pieces?
So he did sign Chevanton in case Austin was injured, AJ seems to be his preferred choice now he is fit again. Can't help thinking he's a missed opportunity if he'd had a bit of game time.

you can play any system you like, some seem to think 4-4-2 is the only attacking way to play but that nly works if you have 2 very strong strikers who can play regularly together. If Johnson goes 3 games without an injury we'll be lucky so we don't really have that option. I've not seen much of Cheverton so hard to say if he's the answer. I'm guessing as Redknapp watches him every day he's not really doing enough to force his way in.
As Jonno said if you don't get players breaking forward from midfield you don't win enough games and that has nothing to do with the starting formation imo more to do with players attitude and ambition during games you need to be very brave to make runs into the box, we don't have enough players willing to take that gamble.
to play 4-4-2 you need a team full of energy and runners willing to go from box to box, we have far too many 30+ year olds to play that way [Post edited 1 Nov 2013 0:00]

With all due respect, Adel and Routledge achieved promotion with some outstanding displays. Niko hasn't achieved anything yet, has had two good games at best so far while Hoilett has failed to deliver big style. No comparison. |  | | |
