Not necessarily sure this move is completely about money to be fair - he could easily have strung it out longer and waited for the likes of Newcastle and West Ham or indeed ourselves to get involved.
West Brom tend to be fairly prudent - reportedly the only reason Sherwood's not in charge is because they wouldn't pay Sir Les and the other bloke more - and Lescott's from that area originally. He has a good relationship with Irvine and his staff from his Everton days too. |  | | |
