Notwithstanding Sky might move Sheff U away yet, anyone got any tips on how to get the fare down (splitting?) from what I'm looking at today, ie around £56 return?

Use Grand Central to Doncaster and then hop across from there. East Midlands Trains have weirdly gone from the cheapest to one of the most expensive in double quick time. When I lived up there used to be able to go from Sheffield to London and back for £10-20 booking only a few weeks in advance. Now it's a fcking fortune.

Megabus do great deals whereby they sell train tickets at the last moment. Two seasons ago I got a return to Derby for £18 and it ended being a train which I booked on the Saturday 3 days in advance.
For Rotherham last night, I found a return by bus with Megabus for £6 going up and £9 coming back but staying overnight. They have great deals.
