One perhaps semantic niggle - what exactly does he mean when he keeps talking about the importance of us 'recognising' our failings? And why would doing so cause things to magically improve? For example, I have no problem recognising that I have a quick temper, am no good at parallel parking, and need to eat more fresh vegetables, but it doesn't change much either way. Dieng: Oi, Dickie, you really let that Mitrovic spin you at the Cottage. Looser than a prossie's front bottom, you were. You gotta recognise that, man! Dickie: What say I introduce your goolies to my fist? Recognise that! [Decks him.] Warburton:That's the spirit, lads. [Walks off, singing to the tune of Roy Castle's Record Breakers song.] Recognition, woh oh, recognition, woh oh recognition, that's what you need . . . [Post edited 19 Nov 2021 23:43]

If you recognise, and acknowledge, your failings you can maybe work on them and fix them? [Post edited 20 Nov 2021 2:28]

Many managers gloss over or ignore failings when their team has got a result. I like the fact that he doesn't and still calls out aspects of the performance that weren't good enough. That's how you get better. | | | |
