Fascinating stuff. A player I’d never heard of. What struck me was he’d rescued a child from the Grand Junction Canal - one of 3 rescues he’d made. Was life so grim in Edwardian (?) London people of all ages were throwing themselves in the canal? Maybe the towpaths were treacherous back then. Or the only chance for a swim.
